When I originally ordered the Pot Stickers, I ordered 1/2 chicken and 1/2 pork but found the pork to be a lot more seasoned. I love the chicken pot stickers and order them exclusively. I bought Wegman's Asian Classics Sweet and Sour Sauce and it's delicious with them! I may try the vegetable pot stickers next.

When we get them from the Chinese restaurant they come with a soy sauce and ginger type sauce. I looked in the section of the grocery store that carries Chinese products and found a soy ginger sauce and it tastes exactly the same as what we get at the Chinese restaurant. It is very good on pork pot stickers. I hope that you can find something that you like.

I went through a pot sticker phase a few months ago! Yummy! There are tons of different recipes & combinations for dipping sauces.

These are 2 dipping sauces from Andrea Nguyen's book "Asian Dumplings". The 1st is loosely adapted.

Soy Dipping Sauce

stir together:

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 1/2 - 3 tablespoons rice wine vinegar

1/2 teaspoon sugar (or add a bit more if you like it sweeter)

optional additions:

1-3 teaspoons hot chili oil

1 Tablespoon freshly grated ginger

1 teaspoon finely minced garlic

1 small scallion, thinly sliced

1/2 teaspoon dark sesame oil

Sweet & Sour Dipping Sauce

1/4 cup sugar or light brown sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon ketchup

1 tablespoon soy sauce

3 tablespoons rice wine vinegar, or cider vinegar

1/2 cup water

2 teaspoons cornstarch dissolved in 2 tablespoons water

Directions:

1. Combine the sugar, salt, ketchup, soy sauce, vinegar & water in a small saucepan. Bring to a near boil over medium heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Give the cornstarch slurry a stir, & add it to the pan. Continue cooking, stirring for about 15 seconds until sauce comes to a full boil & thickens.

2. Remove from heat, transfer to a bowl & set aside 10 minutes to cool down. Taste, & add a bit more salt, if needed. Can be prepared a day in advance.

*This peanut sauce recipe is from Antilope, a poster here. It's good! I found that nuking the ingredients for a few seconds helped to emulsify the ingredients.

Thai Style Peanut Dipping Sauce

4 tbsp peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)

2 tbsp salad oil

4 tbsp soy sauce

4 tbsp granulated sugar

4 tbsp distilled vinegar

1 tsp toasted sesame oil

2 tsp Sriracha hot chili sauce (more or less to taste)

1/8 tsp ground coriander

Mix well with whisk.

Also, check out this thread from awhile ago:

dipping sauce for pot stickers

Anyway, I usually get three 5oz bottles for $12-$15. Those three bottles last me a VERY long time.

Try this easy dipping sauce: Equal parts of soy sauce, sugar and water. Heat in microwave or sauce pan until sugar is melted - serve it warm. It will store well in your refrigerator (I keep it in a jar and shake it up before I reheat it). You can adjust the flavor (more or less sugar) or add other things to meet your own taste (like garlic or ginger, or onion, etc.) It is an easy basic starter dipping sauce.

They are appetizer size. I like vegetable ones best and always with a ginger teriyaki type sauce for dipping.
