Rachael Ray was not a nobody before Oprah offered the daytime talk show--she had signed her first contract with the Food Network in 2001 and appeared on that Network for 4 years before the Oprah contract. She had also already written 10 - again that's 10 - cookbooks before Oprah. I don't think that qualifies as being a "nobody".... She has been nominated for 11 Emmys and won 3 (8 nominations for her talk show and 3 for 30-Minute Meals). Her talk show has lasted for 9 years and she constantly does appearances on other TV shows as well as other Food Network shows. Oprah may have cut the deal for the talk show, but Rachael is the one who has made it the success it is. She is the one who has worked so hard and become a very successful woman. So I don't think she is going to be concerned about those on these forums who "can't stand her", "can't watch her", "she's overbearing", and "don't like her political persuasion"........And just because she has money, that doesn't mean her brother doesn't deserve to be able to get health insurance--none of us know what she did to help him until he could get it..........serious health conditions can run into the millions of dollars - those of you who are lucky enough to have good health coverage should thank your lucky stars!

In July 2008, Rachael Ray Nutrish pet food was introduced. Ray credits the concept of30 Minute Mealsto her experience working at the store, where she met people who were reluctant to cook. She taught a course in which she showed how to make meals in less than thirty minutes.

She is just not my favorite. I can't put my finger on exactly why, but I find her to be annoying. I know I'm in the minority here.

She is loud. Like she doesn't know she has a microphone. I do like her exuburance in cooking, but I have never wanted to buy any of her cookware. I think oval pans take up too much stove space - 4 round ones fit better than oval ones. I don't think she has merited years & years on the Food Channel, a little of her goes a long way IMO.

I don't have many feelings, one way or the other, but I just tuned in with 9 minutes left in the hour, so see what is being discussed. Wow, it didn't take two seconds to see RR totally interrupt MBR every few seconds.

Is this a new version of manners or something? I notice a lot of people are interrupty and over-talky these days. That used to be considered profoundly rude (and STILL is by me!), but it just seems to be the way it is now.

As for RR's voice - I remember several years back she had some sort of operation for the problem she was having. I hope she isn't having something serious, but I thought it was supposed to fix her raspy voice problem and, I would imagine, the discomfort that goes along with that.

On 3/7/2014 KathyLFan said:
She is loud. Like she doesn't know she has a microphone. I do like her exuburance in cooking, but I have never wanted to buy any of her cookware. I think oval pans take up too much stove space - 4 round ones fit better than oval ones. I don't think she has merited years & years on the Food Channel, a little of her goes a long way IMO.

I agree. She has bad habit (like a couple of other vendors) of interrupting a lot. She even did it a lot with Rick a while back and it is unusual for him not to be able to get a word in. I watched a couple of minutes today with Marybeth and that was enough. I have never purchased from her line.

I absolutely loved watching Rachel on Food Network when she first went on air, back around 2004-2007?? She was calm and quiet - truly a different person than she is today. I don't watch Food Network anymore. I would love to find some "vintage Rachel" videos.

If you like spicy, this is FABULOUS.

My sister can't watch her- the raspy voice drives her nuts. I watch whenever I can, I like to watch her cook and listen to her tips.

Her tip on this recipe- when you open the can of chipotle peppers, freeze the rest in a small baggie. When you need more, just slice it off!!!

I used to like watching her also until she got louder, just like Paula Deen. I think some get to big for their britches and they think they are all that. I totally agree they should be told to let the host sell

When I saw that the Rachel Ray presentation was on I decided to take a look and see if she had any "Bubble&Brown" in the show, as I like that product. She was constantly interrupting Mary Beth and talking over her. I just couldn't watch this rudeness very long and turned it off. I have wondered why the director at QVC doesn't tell her to let the show host do the selling and follow her lead? She didn't behave this way when she initially came to QVC.

Post some pics and videos of yourselves and let's see how we perceive you. Geez.

She really has become obnoxious over the years. She used to be lovely, pleasant and interesting on her earlier cooking and travel shows. Since she has had such success with her talk show and cookware line she has turned into a crazy woman, lol!

On her talk show she waves her arms around like a lunatic, gesticulating madly. It is ridiculous! And she constantly interrupts her guests and finishes their sentences.

She has become unbearable to me.

I imagine it would be difficult to step back and let someone else take over.

Also, for those who complain about her raspy voice...I read that she had throat surgery a few years ago. Maybe the rasp is a result of that surgery and there's nothing she can do about it. What's she supposed to do? Hold up signs? Use sign language?
