I realized at noon today, making my tuna sandwich w/tomato, that the chili I made for dinner tonight, also has tomatoes, and the pizza we eat, and the baked spaghetti, and plain old ketchup has the mighty tomato to thank. Kind of blew me away to think about it. I use a variety in goulash, and there's lasagna, and who knows what I'm leaving out.

I really gave it some thought, it appears.

Is there another food we use in that many dishes? Eggs, noodles?

My patio tomatoes are still producing, so I try to use them up in the short time we still have together. I'm putting them on top of my baked cod today, and I'm using them in my chef's salad. For breakfast, I cook them with my fried eggs. For a quick pasta sauce, I mix sauteed tomatoes with basil. Lately, I've made my Friday night "pizza" with fresh tomatoes, basil and cheese between two carb balance tortillas, seared on each side in a frying pan. Tomatoes are my go-to in the summer - along with basil. I agree with the mention of onions, and I also use garlic nearly every day.
