As a southerner, we always cooked in cast iron. I've had ones from LODGE for years and loved them.....heavy and seasoning required, etc.

Justr purchased one from Amazon from Geoffrey Z. )he's a chef on The Kitchen) that's cast iron, non-stick and no seasoning necessary. Available on Q and not willing to pay shipping.

Anyone else enjoy cooking with cast iron?

Back in 2014 as a family we took a trip to France. I loved it! Once we got home I decided it was time for new pots & pans and I purchased Le Creuset cookware. I figured that it should be great quality since it's made in France and the French love to cook! I got a few items at a time. These are pricey pieces and are supposed to last a lifetime!

Well they chip and the worst of all is that my red pieces particularly the skillet that is used all the time has turned black on the bottom I believe from the gas range. I have tired everything you can think of to clean it but it still has black spots. I even tried oven cleaner overnight which lifted half of the black spots. One shouldn't have to battle cleaning their cookware regularly!

I plan on freshening up the kitchen next year with new paint, etc. I will also clean out all of the cabinets and get some new cookware. It will no longer be Le Creuset. My daughter has tried Caraway cookware and is happy with it. I'm thinking of giving this brand a try.

I'm a big Lodge fan and own several pans from them. My favorite is my mama's cornbread skillet that's well over 50 years old. It's not marked so I have no idea where it's from but for sure it's made in America. I use that one only for my cornbread and it's so well seasoned (I think mama used it for frying chicken when I was growing up) that I only need to turn it over and the bread pops right out! Lodge has come out with new pots like Le Creuset and their new pans aren't as fussy as the old ones. A well seasoned old one is just as good as nonstick after years of seasoning. I don't buy Zakarian products since they're made in China. I've found cookware made in China doesn't stand up to high heats but that's just my opinion so please don't get offended if you don't agree with that statement. I love that Lodge is made in TN, in a town where one of my best friends lives.
