Just a question for the more tech savvy people, here. I keep getting directed to Pinterest,(spelling?) when I do a recipe search. What is a membership worth? Is there an app? What are the benefits/any disadvantages? TIA!

I like it for finding and organizing recipes. There is an app but I prefer the full site.

It's like Facebook. You with find value I using it or you don't. Some people find it a waste of time. I like it. But I just use it for food.

You do not need to join unless you want to create your own collection. Just browse; it is free!

Click on the ""red & white striped"" box on the top left and you can select a site (I have FOOD & DRINK selected and bookmark it! Enjoy. It's lots of fun.

What is a membership worth? "Worth" is the same as benefits to me, so check below for that. If you mean what does it cost, it's free.

Is there an app? Yes. I have the app on my iPhone and like it very much. It allows me to look at things while I'm waiting for a meeting to start or waiting in line somewhere. There's also a browser add-on your can download for some browsers (I use Chrome) which allows you to add a quick Pin button to your browser tool bar, allowing you to quickly Pin any image on any web page. I use that.

Benefits:

It's a great way to get quick exposure to a lot of new things and relies on images. you can pin recipes, DIY ideas, art, makeup/nail polish/hairstyle ideas, home decor, vacation ideas, etc.

You can follow some specific users or browser things pinned by anyone, giving you exposure to things you might not have even thought to look for before.

You can do a search on the site and search ALL pins or just your own pins. Maybe you didn't pin a cornbread recipe, but you can search ALL pins and find one anyway.

Disadvantages:

Search only works if someone tagged an image well. You can edit the tags on anything you pin, so add a good description. If you pin a recipe and it's tagged "Yummy Side Dish idea" but no one has tagged it as a garlic mashed potato recipe, it won't come up if you search for a potato recipe. Remember than when you type a description for an image and think of any words you might use to look for it later and make sure they're in the description.
