@mare54. I know this doesn't answer your question directly but for me too many pieces are in the sets that I don't need. I buy individual spatulas at TJMaxx.

Oh yes @mare54 , I do like them and use them, just not all the time. I always say to my husband, my kitchen gadgets are to me what your tools are to you. You may not use a tool/gadget all the time but when you need it, it's great to have. Spurdles are one of those tools.

I have the wood & the silicone spurtles. I like the smaller pieces which I use quite a bit. They have them at Amazon.

I have the same ones- the regular wooden and the silicone mini sets. I use one of them almost every day, and the others frequently. I love my spurtles!

I had never heard of Lucinda Scala Quinn. Then I joined a cookbook group and the first cookbook I used with them was Mad Hungry: Feeding Men and Boys.

I loved the recipes we made and ended up buying the book. So when I saw her on QVC with her spurtles I had to try them!

I don't own any, but the only ones I'm even interested in are the mini's or a long skinny one for getting into smaller mouth containers.

I have a couple sets of the silicone spurtles and use them regularly. I recommend them.

@mare54 We have a wide blade spurdle that we don't use that often (about 2.5") but the one that's about an 1" wide (maybe a tad wider) we use all the time. We do enjoy using spurdles but we also have traditional spatulas that we use too that are of silicon. Either/or, they all work for us.

I have many in different sizes and some wood and some silicone. Great for browning hamburg, scrambled eggs, making rues, glazes and icings, pancake batter, cake mixes and I could go on and on! Not the same as a spatula!

I have several. I use them every day, and love them.

Caveat: I love the silicone ones, of all sizes. However, I will never purchase the wood ones ever again. The wood naturally breaks down over time, even without soaking in dishwater or placing in the dishwasher. I threw all my wood ones away.

LOVE the silicone ones!! Have many, use everyday, have given as gifts.

However, NOT the wooden ones. Ordered several and ALL split very quickly even though I ONLY hand washed and dried immediately.

There was suppose to be a warranty on them, which I could never connect with. All went in garbage in less than a year.

Silicone YAY, wood NO WAY!

I have the silicone set from Lucinda and use it probably more than any other utensil. I was gifted a beautiful stainless set of Cuisinart pots and pans and they suggest not using metal utensils. These spurtles and perfect.

Another that has the silicone set and I love them, use them just about daily. The longer thin one is perfect for getting the last bit of mayo, salad dressing or peanut butter from the jar. As mentioned, I am so glad I bought the silicone ones, I think they are more durable, easier to care for and more useful than the wood.

I think by reading the comments my question was answered. Can you put spurties in the dishwasher?

I bought a beautiful Japanese wooden cutting board. It was almost too pretty to use. Well somehow it ended up in the dishwasher. And the finish was ruined.

I was wondering if the wooden spurtlies finish would end up ruined, if it ran through the dishwasher.

@drizzellla Yes, the silicon spurtles can go in the dishwasher, I have at least one in there every time it gets run.
