I learned to use a stove top Presto pressure cooker when I was in 5th grade. My mom went to work and I was the one to start dinner for the family, as I got home before my parents did. Did lots of meat in it---had no fear about using it---

I bought an electric pressure cooker from the Q, prob Cooks Essentials brand, that had the hard anodized insert that I loved.-But then I got the InstaPot and have been a fan ever since--use it alot for most everything. My favorite thing is to make yogurt in it. Green beans are the best in a pressure cooker and love doing the eggs and spuds in it for a spud salad.

First of all, I am old. Second, I Iove to cook and I love kitchen stuff. Long post to follow:

My first pressure cooker was a Presto with the bobbly thing on top. It was sort of scary. Then I got an electric ******or and it was better but still difficult to get closed and adjusted.

So I bought a Cuisinart, which actually might have been worse than the ******or. It was a real pain to get it closed and locked right. During that time I also had an oval one from QVC that I absolutely hated because it was so big and heavy. Got rid of it in a hurry!

I found a Fissler 6 qt deeper and 2.5 qt skillet like stovetop set on sale and used them quite a bit until I got the Instant Pot one--which is by far better than any other electric one I ever had and we use it pretty often--a lot for sweet potatoes.

We now use the 6-qt. Fissler on an induction burner for beans. They come out just perfect! We can quick soak them, then after that finish them because the burner heats the cooker to pressure rapidly and keeps it at a low temperature without fiddling with the gas stove where setting the heat is problematic.

I just thought I would toss that out for people thinking about pressure cookers, and say that the induction burner and the stovetop Fisslers are a great combination!

You may agree or disagree, but I'm sure any input would be appreciated by those interested in pressure cookers.

The new electric pressure cookers are easy and peaceful, but getting to cooking pressure and then lowering it to release takes a long time.

The old stovetop ones were much faster, but you had to have a drink before and after cooking.

I guess I don't understand why OP isn't posting the full name of the 2nd PC. I have no idea what the brand might be.

I'm really not a pressure cooker person. I have the Cooks Essentials mini one and almost exclusively use it for hard boiled eggs. You can't get replacement gaskets for it, and I can't stand the smell that develops in the gasket after cooking savory items, so it just sits there. Most of the items I see cooked in them in presentations arent's what I like to eat anyways. I'm not much of a soup eater, and I don't like my meat and veggies all cooked together in the same pot because they end up all tasting the same.

I am afraid of the old fashioned ones with the jiggler on top.

I have a Cuisinart & one from Q. I liked the oval 8 qt I bought from Q years ago. It finally quit working.

Electric pressure cookers range from 9-12 psi while stovetop should be 15 psi.
