I've had a refurbished Wolfgang Puck electric PC. I haven't seen this model available for quite a while. I got mine on Overstock.

Recently got the Emeril Lagasse electric PC as a TSV from QVC. I've used it a lot and am very pleased with it. It's made by T-Fal.

I tried two of the Cooks Essentials and both died on me, so I gave up on pressure cookers. Love my new Ninja 3-1 cooker though. It really does brown the meat/poultry and then you just have to through in the rest of the food you want. One of my better purchases.

Wolfgang Puck pressure cooker is great. I have three different brands and that is the one I keep going back to for most things. I also have an Elite that I really like but it tends to scorch the bottoms of sauces unlike my WP.

Boy it's a craap shoot, isn't it! My CE died after about a dozen uses. I am using the new Emeril TSV, which is working fine, but people have reviewed bad experiences with theirs. It seems they are not made to last, like laptops and cell phones. - Bird

I have had nothing but problems with electric pressure cookers. I am now back to using my tried and true pressure cooker that you have to put on the stove top. It is over 30 years old and still works like new. It's made by Presto.

My Cook's Essentials worked beautifully except that the nonstick coating scratched up quickly despite my being careful. After that, the food tended to burn to the bottom. Of course, no replacement is available. So, recently I purchased a Big Boss oval one from Amazon. So far no problems! I love electric pressure cookers, without preset cooking times, etc. This model is perfect for my needs.

I suggest you consider the brand new model of the Instant Pot - it's the 7 in 1 Instant Pot-DUO. Check the very helpful video at their website home page (Introducing Instant Pot IP-DUO series electric pressure cooker and the Introduction Brochure which is a downloadable pdf file.

 http://instantpot.com

This is a 3rd generation model of a successful digital pressure cooker. The company marketing this PC is Canadian. Their products are designed by Instant Pot engineers in Canada and marketed by the Instant Pot company in Canada. They are manufactured in China. By the way, all digital PCs are manufactured in Asia and marketed by various companies.

The IP-DUO has 7 functions: pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker/porridge maker, steamer, saute/browning, yogurt maker and warmer.

Why would I select this digital pressure cooker over the other brands out there?

 * The Instant Pot IP-DUO is a brand new model (introduced in December of 2013) and likely incorporates the latest in digital pressure cooker technology.

 * The Instant Pot IP-DUO is the third generation of this product. I think that's a good sign, as if generation 1 wasn't a successful, quality product there wouldn't have been a generation 2 version and certainly not a generation 3 version.

 * This company makes nothing but the Instant Pot pressure cooker, thus all their attention and focus is on making it the highest quality pressure cooker they can. That's not the case with companies that make coffee makers, deep fryers, slow cookers, pots and pans, etc., etc, where if one product is a dud they can fall back on some others.

 * There's no guarantee that any company will be around in the future, but I feel relatively sure that in a few years time you will be still be able to get replacement parts for the Instant Pot.

 * While I haven't personally dealt with their customer service, they monitor things like Amazon customer reviews and when a customer or potential customer expresses concerns or asks a question, someone from the company often responds to the person posting the concern or question. I'm not aware of any maker of pressure cookers or other cookware that does that. When customers contact their customer service department they get a response. In other words it appears that the Instant Pot Customer Service is more responsive and available to customers than any other maker of digital pressure cookers I'm aware of.

 * The Instant Pot website is a very helpful website: http://instantpot.com

Among other things it includes detailed information on:

 - the features of its product, cooking videos using its product

 - how-to videos on getting to know your Instant Pot (IP), an IP overview, using the Instant Pot as a pressure cooker, using the IP as a pressure cooker, as a slow cooker, using the sauté function, making yogurt, using the IP as a pressure steamer, in-depth looks at the steam release handle, the float valve, the sealing ring, leaking steam

 - numerous recipes

...and much more. I think this is by far the most helpful and complete website for any digital pressure cooker - or stovetop pressure cooker for that matter. In fact for most other digital pressure cookers, available resources are non-existent or extremely limited.

If I were in the market for a digital pressure cooker, this is the one I would purchase.

I bought the Living Well pressure cooker about 4 years ago, The one Montel Williams was selling on Q. I use it constantly without any problems what-so-ever. Still using the original gasket. Probably the best thing I ever bought from QVC.

Also bought the oval techniques pressure cooker that Meredith sold a few years back that everyone complained about. I've had no problems with mine , although I don't use it weekly like the Living Well.

If either one went down, I'd have to replace it immediately...they are that essential to my cooking methods.

Good luck in your searching and I'd recommend going with a 6 qt or larger.

Enjoy!

Camo

I LOVE my Nesco; got it on Amazon for $74, free shipping. It is now $74.99 and still free shipping, but now charge sales tax in my state. I have had it for 3 years and I do not want to ever be without it. I can use it as a slow cooker as well as a high pressure cooker or a low pressure cooker. I can also brown my meats in it prior to cooking which means one less pot to wash. I really, really love this thing!

I have to agree with RocketMom and SFNative. I have a Wolfgang Puck Bistro model and its been working without a hitch for about three years or more.

It really is a matter of luck with electric PC's. I have heard of weird error messages with all of them, including the Wolfgang Puck line, but as I say, mine has worked perfectly.

I own 6 pressure cookers and 5 are electric. Among those are Elite, Deni, WP, Bon Appitete, Sanyo, and my stovetop Magefesa.

I use them all for different reasons, and at times a few at once. What I have found so far is that they all work well but I find the Elite to be the most useful because of the wide variety of options available (if I am not concerned about tot.al cook time).

For sheer speed of end results nothing comes close to the Magefesa used with my induction cooktop, yet I find the 2 Bon Appetites are the fastest of my electrics.

This being said, I really do not dislike any of them and my recipes have worked well in all of them. Since most except my Sanyo are made in China, I know that there will be good and bad with any of them, but thus far I have not seen bad other than poor attention to quality control.

My suggestion is to purchase any one you like and try it and if you are not satisfied use the return policy of the retailer, but I think you will be satisfied with your choice if you follow the manufacturer's instructions.

On 3/12/2014 Foodie 7 said:

I so want this!

I also don't know how to begin to use it.
