A couple of weeks ago they were selling two cream type pies that cost $99!! Yikes. I buy my pies at the local orchard. A delicious caramel apple pie or pecan pie is $15.

@whatsmyname Linvilla Orchards? My sister mentioned their caramel apple pie to me yesterday. I suggested she slip out there on a weekday, when there are no crowds, and buy herself one.

I was just thinking the same thing, either Costco or Sam's. Also was thinking that there most likely are farmer's markets here - have never looked - and that'd be fun to support someone locally.

Kachina, no I live in Michigan and the local orchard is only a few miles from my house. All of their pies are wonderful. Love going there in the fall. 🍁

Can't beat a pie from Grand Traverse Pie Co. they do ship! In the $35-$40 range before shipping.

I'm Up North and one local orchard's pies are from GFS.

Our local grocery sells Grand Traverse Pie Co and I also live about 35 minutes from the restaurant.

The price of $70 for two pies is TOTALLY RIDICULOUS. ALL of the food QVC sells is EXTREMELY OVERPRICED. How the hosts can sell the high priced food with a STRAIGHT FACE is beyond me.

There is no sense in baking a pie or paying that much for a pie as long as Marie Callendar is in business!

Delicious pies for less than $10 & even if I am going to make a Tollhouse Pie I use Marie's frozen pie crust!

I always wonder how posters can compare the mail order pies from small bakeries that use fresh local ingredients to the big box stores or grocery store pies. Has there been a side by side taste comparison of both? If so I'd welcome those comments. Do people enjoy a crust that has never seen a stick of butter?

Too expensive? Perhaps it comes down to different priorities. Too me, baked goods are a treat. If I indulge I want quality ingredients and not vegetable oils.

In my area bakeries have closed, or cheapened their ingredients, or have limited their offerings, or are open only for a few hours a few days a week. If I'm unable to buy a quality pie locally, I don't mind buying a pie from an online, small business supplier.

Occasionally we will drive up to Rock Springs Arizona and get pies. They sell them for $25 each, they are bigger than the normal 9" ones. Maybe they are 12-14" and are delicious. So for less than what QVC sells including gas I can have a nice drive, have a meal and get two huge pies.

One of our our local churches started a pie fund raiser back in the 1950's in September for our East Texas Fair Week then again for Thanksgiving. I order at the end of Sept. and then again Thanksgiving weekend. Last year the pies went up to $14.00 per pie, all still made homemade in the church kitchen with no cool whip in sight. I am wondering how much they will be this year. One woman and her daughter started this and now even the retired men of the church help out in the assembly line it as gotten so big. Not to mention their booth at the fair all week long.

@Etoile308 I took your two comments as serious. @layla2450 Here in DC quality local baked items are expensive.

There is a wonderful shop in the Georgetown area of DC--Baked and Wired-- that has cherry pie for $45.00 plus tax and a refundable $10.00 deposit when you return the Pyrex glass pie plate.

So for the convenience, labor, quality of ingredients used, and shipping I don't think the price for the Q's 2 pie offering for Noble pies is out of line.

I am always grateful that there is still such an abundance of options for shopping for everything in this country.

In any event, just my thoughts. Happy day, all.

Many years ago, OPRAH had a chicken pot pie on her list. My husband said to buy it.
i didn't but years later I did. It was HORRIBLE ! No veggies, no gravy....just a chicken cut up and put in a crust. IT WAS OVER $125.00 FOR 1 PIE.

she can afford it. I'd learn how to cook before I 'd pay those pie prices.
