I freeze bread items all of the time. What I do is separate each half but leave them together loosely, keep them in their original wrapper and then wrap that whole thing in foil. That helps keep the bread from getting freezer burn and preserve the taste.

We use our hamburger buns as bread. They fit in the toaster and work well with any meal as a dinner bread. I have not enjoyed my frozen ones, but they are better than nothing. We buy heat and eat frozen hamburger patties from HEB. I will use a frozen one then.

You could go to those bread bins in the stores, and just get 1 kaiser roll, or whatever they have that you can buy in singles.

I rarely eat buns, but if I do, I like them fresh. I do freeze my rye bread, though, to take out 1 at a time.

I freeze the bread we use for toast and grilled cheese sandwiches in the wrapper they came in. For hamburger buns, I freeze left overs, take out what is needed and place in a spare bread bag I've saved to thaw at room temp. I do grill the hamburger buns prior to using w/ hamburger patty and they come out soft and delish.

He admonished me for not remembering to tell you about his favorite leftover bun use. Open the bun, butter each half. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on the buttered bun. Toast in the oven or a toaster oven.

We freeze two out of a package in separate small zip lock bags for emergencies.
