Temptations having brown streaks after using

Need opinions.........I've have several pieces of temptations that I've used many times....brown streak areas are showing up. What causes this in stoneware and is it still safe to use?

I bought this baking dish last month and used it once. I've had several Temptations pieces, but this is the first time I've had this happen.

Same here. It's not a crack, just brown spots. I've tried cleaning them, nothing works. I had a piece that cracked too. Tossed it.

@house_cat Most of my pieces look like this......some have never even been in the oven. Junk. Polish stoneware, however is wonderfully durable as well as beautiful.

I own several pieces of temptations . They are pretty , things bake well and easy to clean . BUT , two of my pieces have cracks running through them . ( happened after the statute of limitations expired )

The only time I got those streaks was in a 13x9 baker when I made lasagna.

Could it have something to do w/ the acid in sauce? Just wondering.

Never happened in the tons of other pieces I own and use a lot.

Doesn't affect the use of the dish, just isn't as pretty when empty.

Temptations is a low cost piece. It is a throw-a-way, IMHO if it were to crack.

Polish stoneware is very expensive in comparison! I only use my to serve for fear of ruining it in the baking process.

I have several pieces that this has occured, and this is why I don't buy them anymore. The brown streaks developed cracks and I had a couple of dishes break because of it.

Not cracks but these streaks below the surface & penatrate through the bottom ....

It's called crazing and it has something to do with the manufacturing process and the amount of glaze used.

I am in the process of selling most my Temptation pieces. Pennies on the dollar ...I just don't use them any longer.

Ive gone back to using my Corning, Pyrex and most recently vintage blue cornflower pieces I've picked up at garage or estate sales.

You are right..........I just researched 'crazing' on the internet and found information and pictures. It states that it's 'unsafe' to use as it harbors bacteria. Thanks for letting me know what this actually is...

They are so cheaply made and improperly fired that it wouldn't be surprising.

Stoneware made in China often crazes quickly and a whole lot so I imagine that, at some point, those little cracks are getting filled with something.

There are companies that have some products made there that are well made, this this is not one of them.

I never bought Temptations but I have a full cabinet of Polish Pottery ( via T.J.Maxx, Home Goods and Amazon) that is used daily. Over last 15 year I've only lost one baking dish due to a slight crack and several plates due to clumsiness.

I do not own any Temptations so I have no experience with that brand. But I do have a huge collection of Pfaltzgraf.

They say to never let your pieces soak. There is an unglazed edge around the bottom and if they soak, some brownish discoloring can develope. I have one luncheon plate that has this, but all of my others are okay. I may have let that one soak in water too long by accident. It has no cracks or anything, I think it just got discolored from that unfinished edge on the bottom.

I have probably 15 pieces, but all the old ones never crazed. I have a firework floral lace, and all have crazed. The worst is the 8x8. I don’t soak them ever. Scrub the inside and mostly lightly wash and rinse the outside. I have some pie plates, a pitcher, egg trays, old items that never crazed, but then some of those have not been in the oven.

I have a round 1.5 and 2 quart baker that is from the first year they were on, they are perfect still. But I’m not buying more.
