Rita's Italian Ice

DD took vacation days yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Yesterday she had to go an hour away to drop off a quilt to the woman who has a long arm quilting machine and she had one that was ready to be to picked up.

We decided to do a road trip. After the fabric shop we went another hour to a deli we love in central PA. Hit the deli and when leaving town DD yelled Rita's open. We thought they opened the 1st (March 20th) day of spring.

I got my usual cherry ice w/vanilla custard. DD got pistacho custard. She said it was great. It was a nice surprise on a warm-ish (60s) rainy day. We get near one maybe 2x a year.

Do you like Rita's, if so, what do you order?

I haven't had one in a long time, but I always liked the root beer Italian ice.

I love Rita's!!!!! We have a few places in my area and I do indulge every now and them. I love the chocolate ice with chocolate ice cream, the gelato. I also enjoy the ices on their own. It's funny Rita's is mentioned as I just drove by the place the other day and saw the sign saying it is open!!!!! I look forward to my first gelato.

Well, you've all enticed me. We have one a town over (at least I think it's still there)...and I've never tried it. They all sound good, that you all have mentioned.

Mmmmn...root beer ice, sounds yummy. 😋

And I love chocolate Italian ice, and love gelato.

I'll definitely try some now this spring/summer...don't know why I never have.

We have several near me. We used to go often and take the Grandkids. Last year I stopped in and got two small gelatos and it was $14 plus tax.

At that price, they can keep it. My husband eats ice cream every night like clockwork. I don't really enjoy ice cream or cold desserts ( sensitive teeth ) so there is no need for me to go there again.

If you download Rita's app, you can get a free ice on March 20-26. For the past two years they did not have the " free on the first day of spring" program. It's back this year, but you need the mobile app. No more lining up waiting for hours.

Never heard of Rita's so Goggled & there's 2 in my State about 50 miles from me...I'll stop if I head in that direction.

They closed our Rita's a few years ago. Now I don't have anyplace to get great water ice. 😩 😩 😩

Rita's is very good. I always order chocolate custard with sprinkles. Daughter orders italian ice with custard. But the BEST custard I ever had comes from Tyrone PA. Austins Texas Hot Dogs. Been there for as long as I can remember.

I LOVE Rita's! There must be 20 stores within a 20 minute drive! Didn't know they weren't everywhere. lol. Guess it's more regional around here. I get coupons in the mail
