Dieters...BOLO....for those "evil" Girl Scouts..

They're on the prowl... pushing those Tagalongs, Smores and Thin Mints

I of course caved and bought all 3...just trying to do my part!

I still have my Girl Scout uniform from the 60's and I sure remember going door-to-door selling those cookies..do you?

Lol!!!! I so know what you mean...I've been victimized by those Girl Scouts and their Thin Mints lol!!! I truly have no self control when it comes to these cookies lol!!

We sold Thin Mints for $.35 a box.

I was a Girl Scout reject back in the '50s. Flunked reflector oven brownies and knot tying at camp. We were more interested in the Boy Scout troop camped out on the other side of Allaire.

We get many cases of Girl Scout cookies donated to the local food bank I volunteer for. Mostly by the grandmothers of the Brownies or Girl Scouts!!

I almost caved just for the sake of being a former girl scout BUT they didn't ask if I wanted to buy a box so I didn't.

I can't find a girl scout to buy from anymore. They use to come door to door. Kmart use to let them sell at the store but they closed them around here. No thin mints for me.

I still have my sash though. Maybe for a little pick me up I should start wearing it again. Start a new fad. LOL

Our local girl scout council has a website that gives locations and times for buying cookies, they are mostly outside grocery stores on weekends. Try doing a search for girl scouts and your city name.

I'm approached by so many girl scouts at school. If I bought one box from each of them I'd have enough to last the year. Instead, my policy is that I'll buy from the first one to get to me every "cookie season". This year I got 2 boxes of Thin Mints for dh and 2 boxes of Tagalongs for DS. The problem is that I have to sit with those boxes all day until I get home. I really hope they don't open themselves up and jump into my mouth… they've been known to do that.

What I don't like, however, is the way they camp outside my local grocery stores for weeks on end. I feel bad passing them by, even though I know I've already contributed.

Worse than that is the Boy Scouts with that crazy overpriced popcorn that we don't even eat. I love the kids, but don't care for the product. Boy Scouts need to rethink that popcorn.

Thin Mints freeze BEAUTIFULLY, and taste even better when frozen and eaten with an ice cold glass of milk.

I get 6 boxes of TMs. Remove the sleeves from the boxes, and put in ZipLoc bag. Store upright at back of big freezer until the urge hits. (This way, you don't notice the GLARING green boxes). About once a month, I eat a whole sleeve of these BAD, PROCESSED delights all at once with an ice cold freezer mug of milk.

They're also my 'go-to' bad thing to travel with. I have several short, double stack containers. Each side holds half a sleeve of Thin Mints (or Oreos, Ritz crackers or whatever is your poison). One seal covers whole thing. I keep in the cooler when on the road; in my tote when flying. Containers are also handy if you make the chocolate covered Ritz Peanut Butter sandwiches.

We can not find any Girl Scouts to buy from here. They are not even at any stores in the area. These girls are getting so lazy. We use to walk door to door and sold lots of cookies. Next the girls sent an order sheet with relatives to businesses where they worked to take orders. Now days you need to search for them. I was a Girl Scout and sold cookies to go to camp. I always liked to support the Scouts even when prices got very high. But if they are bringing up lazy girls that won't do the work I am done.

I have 2 (not one but 2) sweet, kind looking at me with those angel eyes who say, "Grandma, we're selling cookies. Do you want some?"

How can I say no? It has just started. I've already bought and received 5 boxes of thin mints! I mailed out 2 to one daughter in Florida, given a friend I eat with 1 box, sent the daughter in Colorado 1.....how many are left?.....1 box for me....

I devoured....yes...perfect word for one of those perfectly packaged 'tubes'...of thin mints. I don't remember eating (I think Jack the cat ate them) 1/2 of one of the tubes, but they were gone! So, last night I kept thinking......thin mints....glass of cold milk (skim, saving calories.....thin mints....". Before I knew it I was munching (did you know you can fit one whole cookie in the mouth? Yepper! I did (just conducting an experiment and it worked).

Next thing I knew I had one swig of milk left and no cookies!! Phew! I looked in the cookie/bread drawer and there is still one tube of thin mints left.

I've already told my daughter, "Um.....I'll be buying more thin mints...do get ready"!

My granddaughters are excited. Well, one is excited the other one says she's "already over the whole cookie thing",

I said, "Honey! No! Just think of all of the good you're doing." She said, "Doing for who, grandma? Who gets the money?"

I said, "Honey, we don't need to worry about that". (Lord forgive me, I'm thinking....."No! This is a good cause for someone. I have to justify this by thinking I am saving the world by buying these cookies".

Hummm! It's 10:10AM I'm thinking they would be a good breakfast treat. Right?

I think they stopped going door-to-door for safety reasons. I used to walk our neighborhood in the 50s to sell my GS cookies, but in those days, we knew all the neighbors & they knew us. Unfortunately, it's just not safe for children to walk around alone like that. A few years ago, a GS & her mom came around knocking on doors at my apt complex.

A co-worker sells them every year for her daughter. I always buy one box of each for a total of 8. I only eat a few per week and they last for a few months. I look forward to the GS cookies every year.

I bought from a Scout who said I could donate my boxes to the military serving overseas. That was a no-brainer for me because I don't what them in my house!

In my area, more of these cookies are sold by the parents than by the GS themselves. Kinda defeats the purpose, in my thinking.

I don't ever buy them anymore--they don't taste the same and are way too expensive and I don't eat sugar or chemicals like they have in them. I was a GS and HATED selling cookies---

For about the last 10 years I haven't bought a single box. I got tired of being bullied by co-workers and simply quit buying them. And don't get me started on what I think of the cookies, the sales tactics, and the whole business of this "charity."
