Thank you so much for your replies! I used the instant oatmeal packet this morning. I think I will go back to my old oatmeal bowls and use the Sistema for something else!

I tried to make oatmeal this morning in my new Sistema mug. It came right through the open vent and ended up all over the microwave. I looked at the reviews and read that several people have had the same experience. Has anybody been able to successfully make oatmeal in one of these mugs? If so -- how did you do it? Thanks!!

i make instant and reg. oatmeal in mine. i do the instant in the mug size and reg. in noodle bowl size. i think the main thing is to watch it and stop and stir down, about every 30 sec.

watching it is the big thing.

You have to watch. I have had a couple of real messes with the oatmeal exploding. I use regular oatmeal with 1/2 cup of oats and a cup of water. I put it in micro for 2 minutes. But after a minute I start to watch. It doesn't happen all the time but when it explodes its a real pain to clean!! I do love mine. I put canned corn and other vegetables in mine to heat and soups also. They are a good product!!

I need some help with these also. I have red mugs that I used for soup and they got scratch-like white marks in them. Then tried a light spray of canola oil before putting in soup. Same thing happened to another mug. I put a slice of pizza in a red plate with light spray. Same thing happend. Lots of white scratches. I have the green larger bowles and so far so good using very light oil spray. The convenience is wonderful, the colors are pretty, the whole concept is perfect but I just do not trust them. If you write to Sistema, they know there is a problem and just mail you a new piece no charge. Customer service there is great. But I really want to use all of my mugs, bowls, plates and containers. Many, many people experience no problem at all and others do. I don't think the problem is with individual settings on microwaves because so many people are getting different results. Any ideas?

I'm glad it is not just me! I use regular oatmeal...not the instant in a pouch kind....and boy did I have a mess! I like to never got the lid cleaned....I thought that was the whole purpose of these things was to be able to put the lid on and vent it so it would let the steam out and not do what it did! I'm thinking I need to REALLY keep an eye on it and maybe not leave it in the microwave as long....don't want to go through that mess again

I found that if I leave the lid off in the larger bowl ones that I can make oatmeal in them.

I only use mine for soup. A can of Campbell's Chunky Soup fits in the cup perfectly. I love their chicken corn chowder. If I'm not too hungry, it's my go-to dinner.
