Is this some kind of a new trend that I'm missing? I really don't understand this TSV.

Now, if they were offering practical mason jars, I'd be all over that!

The reviews aren't great, and I was surprised that they are only 6" high. You could put a string of lights in any jar and decorate it any way you'd like.

I think they are very pretty colors and so beautiful when illuminated.

However, they are just too "country" for me, and I'm done with things which require batteries. I don't really like mason jars as decorative items.

To each his/her own. I think I could get a similar effect by painting jars I have on hand with crackle paint, then using either battery-operated lights or candle inside. Or, use any kind of candle inside, surrounded with colored glass pebbles or marbles.

Trust me when I tell you that the QVC Outlet Store in Frazer PA, is going to be full of these things in about 3 weeks. Valerie's mercury glass spheres where there en mass after the Christmas season when they were the TSV.

I completely agree with happygal. I think the colors are lovely and I like the sparkly effect when turned on. However, they just don't go with my décor. I believe in the right setting they would look cute.

lol... I only caught a glimpse of them online & also wondered what they were. I figured I must be missing some exciting thing about them but I really was not inrterested enough to look further.

At a glance they looked like they might be pretty but I work hard at keeping dust collectors out of my house.

I have to agree - $10 each for a mason jar? Junk....

I have a pretty glass bottle that has a snowman painted on it. Handpainted. It has lights inside. That wasn't even $10

Guess I'm a country girl. I like the jars; not crazy about another item needing batteries however.

Just after Christmas I bought jars at Pottery Barn that look just like Valerie's silver ones. I paid more at Pottery Barn and their jars have no lights or lids.

For those who think you can do the "mercury glass" look with paint--Good luck! You need a special spray paint called "Looking glass." It's expensive, takes multiple steps to make it look splotchy and it still does not look like mercury glass. At least the projects I did, don't look anything like the mercury glass item's I've bought from VPH and at other places.

For those who want Mason jars to use for food projects, they are available anywhere and don't cost anything close to these decorative jars. I use Mason jars every summer when I can fruits.

the finish on these jars is not mercury glass....don't know why they are calling it that; if it were really mercury glass the set would cost three times the price.....and the splattered-paint finish just doesn't look that great to me

Tchotchkes like this make me sad...very sad. It's just an instantaneous purchase for a VERY limited use only to live a lifetime in a landfill.

I thought about a similar effect, but not actually trying to get it to look like mercury glass. For that matter, I'm not going to do either since I'd be OK with just weighting jars I have with sand, putting a votive candle down in there, & using on my balcony during the summer. When I'm finished with that, the candles will have burned down, I can dump the sand back into the bag, & I can wash the jars to use for something else.
