I got a great buy on a Kitchen Aid mixer for my niece at Target a couple of years ago. Check around, and you can find good prices on them.

@Sapphiregal - There was a thread about this a few months ago (I searched but could not quickly locate it) in which someone posted that there are supply chain issues with KitchenAid inventory, so they don't have as much available right now as they typically do—plus there was a big run on them last year when everyone was at home baking more often. Apparently, both the stand mixers and hand mixers are in high demand and short supply at most retailers.

The stand mixer will probably show up around the holidays. I bought the 5 qt. stand mixer last December when it was a TSV. I absolutely love it. Now I want a hand mixer but haven't seen it presented in over 1 1/2 years. QVC used to have the hand mixer on air often, especially as a TSV. If it doesn't show up soon, I will look elsewhere. I'm not in a hurry and my budget would prefer easy pay at the moment, so that's why I am hoping I can buy it on QVC.

I had this mixer from QVC, absolutely hated it.Getting the bowl on and off was horrible. Used it one time, gave it to my Granddaughter. If you want to struggle with something , buy it. Bought a hand mixer fron Kitchen Aid and the turn on and off button is not a simple thing either,seems awkward. My refrigerator is Kitchen Aid and I love it, so I'm not against this company.

@HLP : At first it was difficult for me to get the bowl on and off and then a friend showed me how to do it. For me this mixer is much more sturdy than the 5 quart Artisian Kitchenaid that really shook and wobbly when using.

I bought a Kitchen Aid lift mixer 15 or so years ago from QVC and have never had any trouble with it at all.

The key with the bowl is to tilt it forward and align the two pins. Then simply press down on the back edge and the bowl snaps into place. It's pretty easy once you know how to do it. I have more trouble with my older one where the bowl locks into place by the bottom. Sometimes, especially after a heavy dough, you really have to work to get it unlocked.
