Deathwish Coffee, anyone?

I broke down and bought a 12oz package of this at Safeway today, I was so curious about it. It 's advertised as "the world's strongest coffee", and since I'm incredibly caffeine tolerant, I figured I'd find out if it really was. Well, I didn't get any hint of extra caffeine, but wowsers did I get acid reflux to a truly awful degree! I had an ulcer in junior high, and have not had such an acid stomach since then, yuck! I dumped the rest of the pot after one cup, and will use one tablespoon of Deathwish along with the rest of the usual number of another coffee to make each pot, and it will probably take me six months to use up the rest of that 12 ounces! Has anyone else tried this coffee, and if so, what did you think of it? Oh, and if anyone is thinking of trying it, don't, unless you have a Teflon stomach!

I love it!!! I get the large box of k-cups from Walmart. I don't have a problem with any coffee so "Deathwish" was no big deal. But I guess if you are sensitive or unsure don't buy it. I don't believe it's strong at all. But I'm sure there will be plenty here who not only freak out over the name, but wouldn't get near anything "named" that. I also drink coffee from "Black Rifle". And this is why there is so many different "levels" of caffine. If you can't handle it, don't like it, just hate the name of something then don't try it. I have no problem with the name, I don't have acid reflux never have, and caffine has never bothered me so for me I love it!

@eadu4 I don't have any way to measure the amount of caffeine, but if there's significantly more it sure didn't keep me up last night. I was hoping to find a coffee that did give me a jolt, but alas, I got no buzz, just the burn. Oh, and I get you on the name, my actual favorite coffee is Green Mountain's Dark Magic, of which I keep a small stock of K-cups on hand for when I need a travel cup, or I don't want to take the time to brew a full pot. I do wonder, as I age, if I will become more caffeine-sensitive, but so far, it ain't happenin'. Thanks for chiming in!

@CamilleP I just sent my son a package of "black rifle brand" k-cups. He's in the military and loved them. He's like me...he'll drink anything lol. Like you have no caffine issues. Nothing keeps me awake. I no longer get a jolt which is weird since I always got told by my friends the older you get the more affected by caffine you will get. Well, not with me. I'm just a coffee junkie. I do like some tea, and will drink that in place of coffee sometimes, but I have to admit I'm a sucker for coffee. I love it iced or hot. I'm not a big Starbucks fan. And that goes back to one time my daughter got me one of their fancy coffee flavors and boy oh boy...I must have received the bottom of the pot and it was BURNT...YUCK lol.

@eadu4, Starbucks has that reputation.

We are major coffee people (strong, black, and no sugar). Our favorite is Peets Major Dickason's blend. The best!

@eadu4 I'm going to have to find that Black Rifle coffee, hopefully locally. I usually buy a "local" PNW brand, Cafe' Mam Tango Blend, which is half French roast and half Italian roast. It's a fair trade organic coffee that's roasted in a city about an hour south of me. They have several blends, but so far I like Tango best. I hear you on Starbucks, I only like a few of their drinks, Pumpkin Spice Latte and Eggnog Latte mainly, and those are so doctored up that it hides their far-too-strong brews. It seems the "standard" amount of grounds they use is designed to make you buy more coffee, rather than make a better cup. Two tablespoons per five ounces of water? No wonder it tastes like motor oil! They also grind their beans more coarsely, that makes it take more coffee as well. I use an espresso grind for everything, and a rounded tablespoon (coffee scoop) per 8 ounces, that makes it just right for me. YMMV, as the saying goes!

I bought it for my niece for her birthday. We are coffee freaks. The darker the brew, the lower the acid.

Death by Coffee didn't have a bold enough flavor for me. I didn't notice a bigger caffeine jolt but when I was in the hospital my hospitalist said she depended on it.

Peet's is excellent.

Never heard of it but I don't drink coffee.

DH makes his coffee with 1 tablespoon of coffee per each cup of water. Everyone calls it espresso. LOL!!!

Sounds awful. I like medium roast coffee. Dark, strong roasts have their good ingredients destroyed by the heat to make them dark and strong. It's not for me.

Not to hijack the thread but has anyone tried the instant starbucks coffee?

I do not drink their coffee but wondered how their instant brew tasted.

Both my husband and I are big coffee drinkers we like it bold.

@Mom2Dogs : DH and I drink Starbucks instant ( in little tubes) when we travel. Its way better than what hotels provide in room.

I live in Death Wish’s hometown, Saratoga Springs NY. A true USA company that grew from a local startup, has been fortunate to have been recognized nationally, but hasn’t forgot their roots! Very dark, very strong, very delicious coffee! So proud to tell people about them.
