I have one in my Wish List, both at QVC and Amazon. I will see how much they discount it before deciding to buy. Hope it's a good sale!

Thanks for the heads up. 😁

Thanks I will have to check the prices. No deals on Prime Day that I could see. I did find they had a deal in April that I missed.

Have some dough in the bread machine right now for some buttermilk bread.

I bought a Hamilton Beach one earlier this year. It was on sale at Amazon at the time. I can't justify the Zo price. In fact, I only just today actually unpacked it. I cleaned the parts, ran the 10 minute bake cycle, and cleaned again, so it's ready to go now. I had to spend some time rearranging things in the kitchen to find a storage spot for it hidden from my husband. Before you think I'm afraid of my husband for buying things I'm not. It's just that he keeps thinking he wants to try a Keto diet, so I don't want to dangle a bread machine in front of him. I was thinking when I bought it I might make pizza dough in it, but now I know my Publix sells fresh pizza dough I would just go that route assuming I wanted to make fresh pizza.

Many, many years ago I had a DAK R2D2 machine that made large round loaves. I did use it for quite awhile, but lost interest, and then when I pulled it out again to make pizza dough it almost walked off the countertop. It also wasn't meant for making the heavier whole grain breads people like to make these days. But, it was an impressive machine at the time and really before home bread machines became mainstream.

Not sure if I'll get to make a test loaf this weekend. I have to pick up some bread flour and I need to see when hubby will be returning from his boat trip. Or, I may just have to wait for his next boat trip.

I have the Orange Bread recipe from the DAK recipe book. I used to have the R2D2 DAK machine and loved it, but eventually sold it when I upgraded to a model with more bells and whistles. I've been unable to log in for several days and wanted to post this recipe earlier, so I hope Sooner sees it. My favorite from the book is the Golden Egg Bread. That's why I still have the recipe book; I never want to lose that recipe. I will try the Orange Bread due to the glowing review, though. 🙂

Orange Bread

1 pkg. yeast

3 cups bread flour

1/4 cup sugar

1 tsp. salt

1 TBS butter

1 egg

2 TBS grated orange rind

1 cup orange juice (room temperature)

1/4 cup hot water

Add all ingredients into the pan according to the instructions for your bread machine. Select the White Bread setting.

We both like it a lot.

It rose to the top of the bread machine, just touching the window. I used bread machine yeast and next time will try active dry yeast maybe. It is still good though, just rose a little much!

And that's better than too little!

@Sooner
I never knew about 'tagging' another poster, so I'm glad that @shoesnbags tagged you. I am mostly a read-only member of the forums and rarely reply, etc., so I'm not up on all of the features. Learn something new every day! 😁

I agree, that a recipe that rises too high is much better than one that doesn't rise enough. I can't wait to buy another machine. It wasn't in the budget this month, so I didn't use the discount code from the Amazon live event, but I believe they will have more events in the future. In fact, the presenter said that they are having another live event in mid-July, featuring one of their rice cookers. I am now signed up for their notifications, so I will be buying a new machine very soon.

Thanks for starting this thread. I never knew about the Amazon live events, so I appreciate the heads up. They offered a 20% discount code on two machines; the Virtuoso and a smaller, white machine. That would have been a $60+ savings. Not bad.

@Northern Belle 2 I am not up on everything either, so I too am always happy to learn something!

We bought our first bread machine in 1992. We have had several since. The older model 1 pound Zo loaf maker, with the handle, is a champ. I don't remember many a bad loaf (mostly "operator error") and we've had it a very long time.

We bought the new Maestro 1 pound more than a year ago and the first one was a dud. Sent it back and got another one and it is wonderful! It makes the best wheat bread by far of all the machines we have had--which includes two of the large Zo's.

I also have a Cuisinart I bought about 5 years ago at Williams Sonoma because I had a bunch of discounts, rebates and coupons and it was less then sixty dollars or something and it makes 1 1/2 pound loaves--so I made the orange bread in it.

The Cuisinart makes fine bread, but is not built like the Zo's and I don't like the loaf shape as well. But it works fine. We keep the Maestro out on the counter and use it very often.

So some history for you, ha!, and best wishes on scoring a bread machine at a good price! If I see something I'll let you know!
