A friend gifted us with salmon filets and I'd like to marinate them and cook them on the grill.

Does anyone have any marinades they can suggest? I'm dying to get to that stuff but I want to make sure to prepare it right.

TIA!

...or, any suggestions on how to cook it besides marinating it, etc.

I like to make a finishing butter to put on the salmon after it's grilled.

Use softened butter, garlic, a bit of thyme, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and top with capers.

We eat salmon frequently at our house and this is a favorite.

As far as a marinade: find a good ginger salad dressing (I like Ken's). You need to be careful with marinated too long or it makes the salmon too difficult to grill.

Enjoy!

We also love it poached gently in water with a little lemon and maybe some herbs in it. It also makes the best leftover salmon to use in a salad.

I use lemon juice and sliced lemons and pats of butter on top, dill, galic, salt and pepper, and maybe some white wine. Wrap it up in foil and bbq it---then let it sit to finish--like it just barely pink but not raw--I can get whole salmon nearly all year round as I live near Seattle so have access to the best at a very good price.

I do a marinade of 2 TBS Soy Sauce, 1 1/2 TBS Dark Sesame Oil, 1 TBS Honey. Let it marinate 5 or so minutes, sprinkle with sesme seeds. I generally bake mine, so I add some pineapple chunks (minus the juice) in the baking pan. I bake I at 450 Deg F 12-15 minutes and broil for a couple of minutes to brown. I'm sure you could grill it though without the pineapple chunks.

I agree that it's best not to marinate. We love this very simple way of cooking salmon and have it often. It works best with filets that are not too thin and preferably not previously frozen:

ROASTED SALMON GLAZED WITH BROWN SUGAR AND MUSTARD

Ingredients

Salmon fillets, preferably wild or farmed organically

Dijon mustard

Brown sugar

Salt and black pepper

Preparation

1) Heat oven to 400 degrees

2) Make a mixture of mustard and brown sugar to the degree of spicy-sweetness that pleases you. Salt and pepper the fillets.

3) Place the fillets skin-side down on a lightly oiled and foil-lined baking sheet. Slather the tops of the fillets with the mustard and brown sugar glaze and slide them into the top half of your oven. Roast for about 12 minutes (might vary depending upon thickness;be sure not to overcook).
