I never saw one before. I saw the pans that fold over but that's it. The worst part is beating the eggs. I like to make omelettes but they aren't pretty.Don't some of the sandwich makers make omelettes?I remember some older commercials making their versions of omelettes.

I bought my no name, long handle, foldover aluminum pan in a flea market 50 years ago for 25 cents. Still makes great omelettes. Never saw any need to replace it.

I see no need for a separate electric appliance unless you want to make omelettes somewhere away from your kitchen, e.g., on the patio for a summer brunch.

Maybe late 1940s or early 1950s.

I whack it on both sides on my gas stove metal grates to make sure the egg doesn't stick, and it still looks fine. And so do the omelettes.

You don't need a nonstick surface to make omelettes. Just be sure the pan is uniformly hot, and if it is a foldover long handle style, give it a whack. My guests love to see me whack.

I just use my standard sloping sides non-stick skillet with a coat of melted butter. I beat the eggs in my Vitamix, pour into skillet, then add chopped onions, green pepper, and some grated cheese. Cook until almost set and fold one half over the other. Filling can be ham, mushrooms, tomatoes, whatever, Don't cook too long or it will crack when you fold it over.
