I made my 40 year old son's birthday cake with Duncan Hines white cake as you suggested.

I googled and found "Best Butter Cream Icing" and put fresh strawberries on top. It was unbelieveable! Far past strawberry shortcake!

I had to do the icing in "petals" like your grandaughter did since the top wanted to roll up into the icing. (You KNOW how that goes!).

DH just came in the kitchen and said "That cake is fantastic! I need another piece!!!!!"!!!

In almost 40 years, I have never seen him overwhelmed!!!

Yeah....I love that box cake mix so versatile🙂🙂

I've made the layers filled with

lemon, rasberry, apricot, strawberry or what ever I feel like.

Next time try the french vanilla just as yummy & moist!!!

Isn't that icing technique cool..I'm making a 75th bday cake for end of May and going to make something using that technique..

Glad hubby enjoyed every once in awhile mine asks for this cake too!
