I dehydrated blueberries in my oven yesterday. It worked beautifully, but took about 6 hours at 225°.

I'm wondering if it's worth it to buy a dehydrator. I'm not really concerned about the cost, but I hate to bring anything into the house that isn't necessary.

Thank you in advance for any advice you can give me.

My trucker daughter wanted to order a high dollar dehydrator from Cabela's to make deer jerky. I eventually convinced her one batch a year did not justify that expense.

Unless you intend to dry a lot of fruit frequently, the expense and loss of storage space would make the decision for me.

The Ninja Foodie I have has a deydrate cycle. I know some other Ninja products have one. I've seen it on a toaster oven, too. Maybe you got something already that has a dehydrate function. I wouldn't buy an extra appliance to do just that, unless you dehydrate often.

If you are only going to do this a few times a year just stick with your oven.
