How many of you prefer an electric can opener over the Kuhn Rikon? Or do you use both? Or neither?

We use OXO can openers and wouldn't give counter space to an electric one.

I prefer an electric due to arthritis but can't seem to find one that works properly.

I have a Cuisinart electric can opener. A little pricey but works very well.

I've never liked electric can openers - they're sort of an eye sore IMO, so I use a hand held opener that I've had for years. I have only minor arthritis problems in my right hand, so it hasn't been a problem. I like the KR brand, but don't see a reason for buying one since my old can opener works just fine. Many cans now have the pull tab, so it's not much of a problem.

I have a Hamiltom Beach , I believe from Amazon. It uncoils the lid, does not cut it. It's electric, didn't cost a lot, and is probably 9 inches high and base is propably 5 inches. Doesn't take up a lot of room, works great and I love it. Best can opener I ever had.

I need to use an electric can opener because of arthritis in my hands. But it doesn't sit out on the counter. I store it in a lower cabinet, right in the front. It's small and lightweight so no problem taking it out when I need it.

Sounds like the same one that arrived at my house from Amazon on Friday. It's the exact same model I needed to replace. Have loved it so much for many years is why I got that one again. Biggest plus feature for me is no jagged lid.

HLP, I've seen ads for the type you're talking about. I am definitely interested in making a switch for that style.

Your question made me realize how very seldom I ever have to open a can. I have one of those Kuhn Rikon ones that MCM used to present. Had it for years now. Probably a lifetime purchase! Much easier and cleaner than the old Swingaway type.

I use just a regular manual. I've always had issues getting the can in the right spot with an electric.

I prefer a manual cal opener. Have an electric one from way back when arm was in a sling. Went right back to manual as soon as i could.

Speaking of can openers....a lot of canned items now come with the ring to pull the lid off, like soda cans have. But geez louise some of them are buggers to pull off...if you can even get them started. Occasionally I've even had rings come right off on my finger rendering them useless. Some I just give up and head for the can opener.

Most of my cans are pop top but for the ones that are not I use electric as I have terrible arthritis in my hands.

I bought a series of things from QVC years ago, it had a hook type thing you put on the ring and pull back and it took the lid off, also a gadget that unsrewed the caps off. Both were black plastic covered, I use both of these often. I have arthritis and these two are life savers . Wish they'd bring this back. I'm pretty sure the man who brings the gadgets had them. Any one remember these?

I have several. The old fashioned one & a couple I bought from QVC. My favorite,the one I use most often is a battery operated one. I hook it on the can & push a button & viola. It spins around the can & stops when it's done. I then push the button again & the opener releases from the can with the lid magnetically attached.It's fast & easy.

I have that gadget that you sit on top of the can and it propels itself around the top of the can and it cuts the top off while creating a smooth edge.

I love it. You can reuse the lid if you need to store the can for a day or two in the fridge. The gadget is just a few inches and fits into a drawer.
