Cooks Essential Question

SO of course- my Mom and I purchased a LOT of Cooks Essentials- only to find that through time- the coating disintigrates over time- (and they SAID it was LIFETIME WARRANTY but when we tried to replace- they said they don't have "open-stock" and one pot I actually DID send back -- they "pro rated it" meaning I got like a miniscual amount back and no replacement!!) that said NOW it's said that these pots and pans are also not good for your health- but WHO HAS THE MONEY to replace the many SETS we bought- for us for our kids etc?--- FAST FORWARD---- I have the gigantic "fry" pan that they referred to as a chicken fryer- I love the darn thing - it's huge- with a lid- BUT yeah- it's interior is breaking down and after all these years-how dangerous IS it to be putting chemicals in us now?? THAT SAID- where can I get a new one that's as big and not dangerous to cook with- the pan is 12"diameter- 38"around and a little over 2 1/2" deep!! (I have a "universal cover"-- so I'm not concerned with that- (i think it fits all kinds anyhow- - SO ANYONE Know where i can get something similar w/o mortgaging my house? AND- since they adverised lifetime warranty- shouldn't they be held liable for false advertising???

You should try HSN - Curtis Stone. He has some separate pieces but his sets are not too bad. The skillets do not peal.

Over whose lifetime is the warranty. Yours? Or did the pan have a certain number of life years expected use before getting too worn out to use? Maybe the maker assigned that pot a 10 year lifetime of use, who knows?

I have a beauty of a 12 inch Technique frying pan from the Q that is very very old and probably had a minimum of a thousand crabs sauteed in it over the years yet is still looking good. But that was another excellent brand I don't think the Q sells anymore.

@sipp I have that gigantic fry pan as well...it's my favorite, but mine is losing its nonstick finish. I've yet to find a pan as big as this one. I bought the whole set this pan came in years ago from the Q....tried to get a replacement on another one from the set that had the finish flake off, but they didn't have replacements and just have me a minimal credit.

@sipp I also agree with everyone who suggested Curtis Stone items. I have his very big electric fry pan and it's great. Check out Curtis' items on HSN -- there's a big variety and most times offer free s&h.

Yes Curtis Stones durapans are the best. I had a TON of CE stainless cookware but---the black nonstick scratched and things started to stick, I got rid of it all and bought CS brand. have a few CE appliances, electric fry pan, a soup pot, that are in good shape but I don't use them so will donate them too. No more black non stick for me. I only look for ceramic non stick these days

Remember when they first came out with CE? Bob Bowersox would say how you would be handing these down for generations. Honestly, anything with any type of coating will probably break down. Last year I purchased some single Calphalon non stick pans that barely lasted a year. Maybe for people who do not cook things last longer. I find myself always going back to my original hard anodized Calphalon (not non-stick) I have had for over 40 years. I did make out with the CE warranty though for both me and my son. Over the years I have both returned many pieces (some they didn't even have me send back) and were replaced with a similar items, some credits and in one case I was offered to choose another complete set to replace a couple of pans that the non-stick came off of. I love dishes, pots/pans, etc. and try them all.
