Made my semiannual trip of the year to Costco yesterday to stock up for the winter and was disappointed to find they no longer have the Kirkland Signature Stretch Tite plastic food wrap.

Anyone know why?

Have you tried their new KS plastic wrap in a blue box? I chose not to buy because I didn't know the product, but that means I will have to find a new plastic wrap. I thought the Stretch Tite was the best plastic wrap ever.

I assume the StretchTite is permanently gone because the two-pack of Kirkland Signature plastic food wrap they now sell (in Texas) is blue boxes and they do not say StretchTite on them.

@PA Mom-mom , those plates are available on Costco website. Since going to the physical store is a major production for me, I order online for those products sold there.

I got four rolls of Freeze-Tite on A. for about $25 months ago, and have just started using it. It's great. Sadly, it's over $53 now for the same amount.

I've never used the Costco wrap, but there's a wrap called Stretch-Tite on A. It's from the same firm, Polyvinyl Films in MA, and is also made in the USA. Four rolls of about 516' by 11.5" are around $44 right now.

P.S. Kirkland-branded Stretch-Tite is also on A. Two 750-sq-ft boxes for about $25 right now. That's a better deal than the one I just posted about, with 4 rolls, based on square footage.

I believe BJs is still carrying StretchTite.

I use Freeze-Tite from the same company. I can only find it on Amzn. Usually pricey, but sometimes on sale. Last time it was on sale I bought 8 boxes! LOL

I never thought about using StretchTite for non-freezer wrapping. I know the Freeze-Tite is really thick. Is the Stretch-Tite significantly better than Glad/Saran wrap?

What attracted me to it is that it stretches over the plate/bowl/product and then sticks to itself without coming undone in the fridge or freezer. Also the box with cutter makes it so that the roll unrolls readily, 99.9% of the time. That was the thing I hated most about all the wraps I used in the past...they would peel partway, ripping the roll.

When I have a very satisfactory product, I hate losing it.

It is definitely not sold at the store I visited this week, nor on Costco online. I placed an online order at the beginning of this week and searched every which way, including just going all the products in the category. I just checked again, not there.

None of the stores mentioned in this thread are in my area of Texas. I will look at the Amazon item mentioned. They have the 12" x 3000' roll for $14.99. Item 208733. I'm not a member so it would have cost me more to buy it. I'm also put off by the size of the roll. The box is 6"x6" and heavy (got that info elsewhere), and the 3K' roll doesn't fit in the Stretch-Tite cutter, which you can buy on Stretch-Tite's site. Of course, the boxes of 3K as well as 750' come with the slide cutter that you fit over the metal cutting edge on the box, just like the Freeze-Tite I already have, so you don't really need the cutter.

I wound up buying two 750' rolls on A. I won't be microwaving with it touching the food or wrapping hot food in it because of the PVCs, but can envision tons of ways this will come in handy and can be used safely.

@noodleann , Thank you for all the info. I did see the listings on Amazon, so I will get it there. I definitely cannot bring it up on Costco website, not using the number you provided nor any term I can come up with.

I hope someone who tries the new Costco plastic wrap will let us know how it is. If I could readily get to the store, I would buy it and return it if I found it unsatisfactory. How I wish I lived nearly next door to Costco!

edit: wanted to mention I agree with you...I never put plastic wrap in the microwave. I cover food in the microwave with a hard plastic cover that has a fairly big hole in the center. It washes quickly in the sink so it's no trouble to use

@JGalt I purchased 2 boxes of the "old" packaging 750' Kirkland Stretch-Tite yesterday and it was much cheaper than at the A. I purchased online as I rarely get to the actual store now--the closest one is about 70 miles from home. I live on the coast in the PNW and have to drive inland.

I have used this product for years, sure hope it doesn't change here. I like the 750' box as I have a good out-of-the-way but easily accessible place for the box--I need it handy as I use it so often.

I found it in my Costco store in Pennsylvania last week. I am fairly new to it so not sure if this is the product you are describing but it is in the yellow and blue box with the cutter and says "Kirkland Signature Stretch-tite Plastic Food Wrap" and it is a 2 box bundle of 750 sq ft each. There was a limit of 1 per customer and the price was approximately $10.
