Any recommendations for excellent quality stainless steel cookware that comes with tempered glass lids rather than SS lids?

I'm giving away my Calphalon Contemporary pieces ( was never really a fan of them) and want to replace them with something that is top quality. However I have found that most things considered top quality (All Clad) come with stainless lids. Granted they offer a clean, professional look; but I prefer to see inside the pot or pan.

I generally don't go for sets because I like to pick and choose my pieces, but I would be willing to go for a set if I can get the type of cookware I want. Your pearls of wisdom are welcome, and thank you.

I couldn't find a decent set of SS cookware, so I ended up buying separate pieces from different brands---I have a Cuisinart 4 qt SS dutch oven, and 3 saucepans in different sizes and have a huge fry pan that is ok. I love them and use them all the time. SS is different to cook with, not like the nonstick. I don't use any spray oil on it. I also have a lovely set of Curtis Stones durapan that is to die for!!!

The outer layers of “bread” are premium 18/10 stainless steel. Stainless steel provides durability, induction compatibility, and a non-reactive surface. The “meat” of the sandwich is three layers of aluminum and aluminum alloy, which is a combination of metal known for its heat conductivity and responsiveness. Like in the sandwich, the thicker the aluminum interior better (so 5-ply is better than tri-ply) and the combination of stainless steel and aluminum is a match made in cooking heaven. Two layers of stainless plus three layers of aluminum = 5-ply.
