Hi Everyone! Hasn't this winter been cold??!!!

I certainly have loved all the HOTSOUP recipes everyone has posted! I live for HOTSOUP in the winter! I've enjoyed all the new recipes posted since they use different spices that I wouldn't normally have.

For this weekend (only), I went to The Spice House website to search out some of the different seasonings that have been listed in your HOTSOUP recipes. I found every one and am excited to try new spices from The Spice House. I received an email from them talking about using HOTSOUP on my order. The UPS girl will deliver my order for free now! Isn't that nice of her and The Spice House?

Hope you can take advantage of HOTSOUP this weekend...seems like another bitter couple days.

Yes, they are related. Spice House mixes their spices in smaller batches and packs it for you when you buy it. You can get pretty much the same blends at both.

I've found The Spice House has a better selection of boxes (also has more BBQ-type items which I was looking for as a gift for my brother and got them from Spice House instead of Penzey's). In general or at least for where I live (CA), Penzey's is cheaper but has higher shipping. The Spice House tends to have more free shipping offers, whereas Penzey's will sometimes include a sample product (decent-size). Each has it's good points. I've placed orders at both for Christmas in the same year. I'd love to have Penzey's near me and hope they keep expanding. My Mom visited my Aunt and they went to one in WA and had a blast, wish I'd been there! Both are amazingly fresh, I love having herbs and spices so fresh! I think today's a great HOTSOUP day!

Actually,it's Bill Penzey Sr.'s daughter and son in law who own the Spice House. I bought all my spices from Penzey's until I discover the Spice House about two years ago. They provide the spices for Chopped and other Food Network shows so I decided to give them a try. I don't buy from Penzey's any more. Spice House has a better and larger selection and in my opinion, the spices are fresher. They have wonderful blends. I think Penzey's is a little over rated.

I actually prefer the Spice House as well. I found many more BBQ and Smoker rubs on their site. They also had Espresso powder and Chilies in adobo Sauce that I have looked EVERYWHERE for and couldn't find.

Only problem was...I had an order for about $15 and the shipping was $12.75!! crazy!! So I greatly appreciated their HOTSOUP free shipping special. Their CS said they only do it a couple times/year and added me to the email list. Penzey's free after $35 is a bit more manageable for me. I wish The Spice House had something daily as well.

Yes, you are right about the shipping, but now that you have signed up for their emails they will notify you when they have free shipping specials. Lately, it's been every other month. I always stock up when they offer this.

RespectLife, I've gotta tell ya that when I initially read this post over the weekend, I had NO idea what all the "HOTSOUP" was about. Haha! And I'd honestly never heard of the Spice House before, so thanks for that.

Unfortunately, once I did figure it out your intention, I was disappointed because the Spice House didn't have what I needed, while Penzey's did. Bummer!

I only discovered Penzey's last fall (from my friends here on the Kitchen & Food boards, thank you). I will definitely check out The Spice House next time I am in Chicagoland, most likely this summer. Thanks for the tip!!

Awww...I'm sorry Sabatini! I read that they poof your thread if you give discount codes for other places...so I was trying to be 'clever'. LOL Didn't work!

I read about The Spice House here a bit back but the shipping stopped my order.

I ordered last Friday (2/7) and it was delivered yesterday (2/10)! How's that for fast AND free shipping!

Golden says they email the promos more often than I thought. Good thing! I forgot a couple things I needed!

I had to laugh at you mentioning Chilies in Adobo sauce as I've been looking everywhere for a can/bottle, and mentioned it to my Mom who also had been looking for it. I'm sure The Spice House's is way better, but if you're in a jam, my Mom found a can at Walmart. Now I need to order it from The Spice House!

I know The Spice House does a deal on boxes close to Christmas, or at least did the last two years. I did that last year and picked out a box for myself, then a few others. My first ever order was rubs and spices for my brother to use either with BBQing or his smoker and I could smell them as soon as I opened the outer box without the smaller boxes open, yum!
