Just bought Christmas presents (5) for my kids, and myself! I called each of them, heard the same choice one call after the other- Coastal Blue, that was my choice too!

I have been on the fence about this all day.

I have one other piece of Le Creuset and have really enjoyed using it.

I will have to decide soon.

This is my first time checking in today. Do you think this pan is heavy? It's a beautiful pan but I'm worried it may be too heavy for me. Thoughts?

It states in the description Measures 15.5"L x 14"W x 2"H; weighs 6.1 lbs.

Then depending upong what you are cooking it will add a bit more weight.

I have issues with weight, can't handle too heavy. This, I think, will be great for me. If not I'll return it. If there's a choice you're contemplating, choose early.

I really liked the yellow, pink, but Coastal Blue, is my fav (new as well as the cream). I also have caribbean in the 5qt brassier, and a few other colors. I like diferent colors to admire.

Correction - the pan is 6.1 lbs, not 6.3 pounds. Still heavy.

@skittles2 we are on the same page!! Thinking about the Coastal Blue or the Cream! I was just concerned about the weight.

Other brand is Staub. Also made in France. Quality is just as good.

Cast iron is heavy if you are use to aluminum pans. Also retains heat longer. Sometimes a plus, sometimes not.

If you have weak arms, pass on this product. I once dropped my 10" cast iron skillet on my foot. It resulted in two broken toes.
Otherwise it is an excellent product, and a heirloom piece that will last a lifetime. Pass it on to your kids after you are gone. That's what my parents did.👍
IMO, Le Creuset is better than unseasoned cast iron pans/skillets because you do not need to season/re-season after each use. Expensive but worth it. I have a few.

I've been thinking about ordering one as a gift. I know the recipient would love a bright red one, but I'm not sure if cerise is a bright red after looking at the video. When I watched a segment, they kept the blue, orange, and yellow front and center. For those of you who got a good look at it, would you consider the cerise choice a bright or dark red?

Hi, hopefully someone will chime in, I've never had cerise, but to me, it looks like a comb due to the ombre- darker on the bottom lighter coming upward.

I always thought it was pretty though. I actually do not favor the ombre colors, but If I like the bottom color like Costal Blue,then I may choose that.

Maybe call in during the 6pm show and ask?

Thanks @skittles2. I'm going to check out the 6:00 p.m. show. I think your post makes sense about the ombre. It looked dark at one angle and bright at another angle. Maybe it's a combo. I did an internet search and some websites have it looking darker than others. I read it described as a cherry red. When I think of cerise, I usually thought of a pink shade, but this doesn't look pink. I appreciate your input and hope you and your family enjoy the coastal blue. It is beautiful! ❤️

Sandra said the orange went to a poppy red on the bottom. I don't like dark red so I would choose orange. The yellow is really pretty.

To get the true color, I always watch the video. The studio lights often make the colors brighter than they are. Don't know why the videos give a truer shade. Also, the reviews sometimes report the true color.

Just my 2 cents worth - 6 lbs is quite heavy if you're trying to hold it with one hand and serve with the other hand. I have a couple of the smaller sauce pans whch weigh 5 and 6 lbs ad that is as much as I can hold with one hand.

And another thing - I do not care for the black coating on the skillets. It is not as easy to clean as the smoother enamel on the inside of the pots. But maybe that's just my minority opinion.

I sold all my heavy LeCreuset dutch ovens, grill pans because just to heavy for me to lift from oven, etc. once food in them.

I now use Curtis Stone grill pan (and all his other cookware) & everything cooks evenly, clean up great and personally, I don't see any big difference besides weight of pans.

Although it's personal preference -- I thought of buying as a gift but the recipient didn't want it.
