Fresh Express bagged salads contaminated again?

I happened to notice on my AARP feed that Fresh Express has again been found to have contaminated product. This time its cyclosporiasis, I've never even heard of that one before. I swore off Fresh Express years ago, but some of you might consider doing it now. That includes lettuce offerings at salad bars if it is not obvious they are using their own complete heads. All the convenience in the world won't make up for a serious illness.

After hearing of so many lettuce products being contaminated in the last few yrs, I've given up on store bought lettuce. I grow my own lettuce . It grows well in trays or in the ground . Grow, Clip and eat without fear of becomng ill

It's not only Fress Express bagged salads. If you look in the Wllness Forum all the brands and UPCs are listed.There are two posts. Cyclospora are parasites that survive in water contaminated with fecal material. There's currently an outbreak of illness due to the contamination. There are 509 people sick. I tend to buy heads of iceberg lettuce or romaine. But I do buy the premade store salads, and I assume they use the bagged salads? And they're supposed to be ready to eat, so I don't wash them before eating. I do crave salads when I go awhile without any. Why can't processing places stay clean.

one week no potatoes, 2 sad heads of lettuce, I do use the salad bags also but now scared. I think we will have limits with produce like we do with meats. I do salads no lettuce, tomatoes, onions, peppers & cucumbers with my homemade italian dressing let it sit for a few hours DH loves it. Just got to work around it. I have been buying frozen veggies incase we can't find fresh. stock up if you have room with the frozen. last week produce was plenty who knows how this goes.

Who buys these salad bags anyway??? I only buy locally grown veges from my local farmers.

@ID2, not all of us have local farmers selling produce 12 months of the year.

@EatWell, I have clue as this particular outbreak, but most of them originate here.
