i dont have the GZ version, but i do have the dash version and the curtis stone version. i use them so much. i recently purchased the smaller dash version. they are wonderful when we have company. they are not at all difficult to clean out due to the non stick interior.

I was just going to say that the Dash electric skillet is virutally identical to this one. You can look at the reviews on Amazon. They are good. The Dash on Amazon doesn't come with the stainless rack. The Dash mandoline is also identical to Zakarian's. It's looking like they are taking Dash products -- and slapping the Zakarian name on them.

1 reason I've never bought a electric skillet is when you fry burgers or fry hamburger, for, let's say, Hamburger Helper it would be hard to drain the grease from the pan. Where with an ordinary skillet you just put the lid on and drain the grease.

This one it says the pan is not removeable either. MMMMMM............

But....if I had this one I would use it more often and donate the other one.

When I brown hamburger in it, I use 93% lean ground beef. There is almost no fat left to drain off before adding in the next ingredients.

I got my husband the Dash mini electric skillet for his boat. I also got him a HotLogic mini. Got myself the regular sized HotLogic not so much to cook in, but to carry food to socials and keep warm. However, I did use it recently to heat up a frozen BBQ dish. The box said you had to defrost in the fridge for 2 days. I never think that far ahead. 4 hours in the HotLogic and we had dinner.

This electric skillet looks so much bigger than my Saladmaster I got many years ago. I don't need something that big; there's just the 2 of us. Also, my Saladmaster is stainless steel and still looks like new. I'm not much of a cook, and use nonstick cookware 90% of the time, but I just feel like an electric skillet like that in non-stick is just throw-away cookware since that coating will eventually peel.

I had his non-stick cast iron skillet. For six months it was great; I used it nearly every day and only used mild soap to clean by hand.

Then I started to notice a discoloration in the middle of the pan. I wasn't too bothered about it, it was just weird. But a few days later the coating started to pucker, then pop. Black coating started popping right out of the pan and in my food! Needless to say I had to throw the food in the garbage. Several more pieces started peeling off.

QVC was great in that I did get a full refund for the item being defective. But I will not use another GZ non-stick skillet of any kind.

I really do want this but I am holding off for now. Since this is his first version of this skillet, I am going to wait and read the reviews. Maybe Geoffrey will redesign it to where the skillet is detachable and able to be immersed for hand washing (similar to the Crock Pot revisions over the years).

Not sure a round design is better than a square design either. Any thoughts on this?

My old Hamilton Beach electric skillet is a few meals away from being "spent." I'll just wait it out for now because it is an item I want, not need. Hopefully, there will be a 2.0 version as a TSV in the near future.

Another thought..... GK has not done one single demonstration of the use of the rack. I want to know (from an Iron Chef) of all the versatile ways to use this feature. He is missing a golden opportunity to demo this!

If they, on Sunday, do more demos and spend more time in the kitchen then vacumns, ladders and commode cleaners we could buy with more information !

Am considering this TSV even though we're empty nesters. Received a large stainless Farberware electric skillet as a wedding gift 52 years ago, and I used that thing to death with a family of 5. Even returned it to Farberware for free repair when one leg snapped off while I was washing it. Back in those days non-stick coatings weren't around, but I still used that skillet several days a week. This TSV looks similar but no tall legs to break off and an easy non-stick coating. Using an electric skillet keeps grease splatters off your stovetop--love that. Not usually impressed with Q's TSVs, but this one seems a winner.

I have Curtis Stone's electric skillet from last year. I like it. I don't need a larger one--cook for one or one and to have leftovers.
