I had one for years. It works quite well. However it just got to annoy me so much to be constantly having to go out and get new CO2 cylinders so I retired it. Also keeping up with washing the bottles and buying new ones when they expired also got on my nerves. It is better for the environment but not for my mood. Just too much work. I drink a ton of seltzer though. Maybe if you drink less it's less annoying.

Yes. I have one. Only use it for seltzer, and use the seltzer for ice cream sodas. I have small bottles, mans only make what is needed..... since nothing is stored there is no issue with the soda going flat. It works great.

I have one, actually I now use the Drinkmate because with it you can carbonate anything, not just water. Hubby still uses the Sodastream (not sure why). To tell you the truth, it doesn't really save money unless you hack them so that you don't have to keep trading the CO2 bottles in for new ones. I got a Paintball canister and an adapter on Amazon to bypass that but to do that you have to get a model that accepts the large Sodastram CO2 cannisters like the Jet model. Of course, you will need a place nearby that refills those, and eventually they will expire and you will need to get a new one or have it hydrstatically tested, so probably cheaper to buy a new one. With the Drinkmate, I ended up getting a long cable that attaches to the Drinkmate (which uses the same canisters as the SodaStream), also on amazon) and attach to a large CO2 canister that sits on the floor. One of those will last me a year or more and we just go to the AirGas place and trade it in. You could do the same with the Sodastream. Mine hides behind the refrigerator bump-out.

There are some that say you must get special CO2 for human consumption, but I found out that a local beer brew company gets theirs filled by the fire suppression companies that re-fill fire extinguishers, so I'm not concerned. You might be able to get refills at a local Pepsi or Coke distributor if you have one. But, they won't refill Sodastream canisters. They have a special adapter. Plus, they are probably too small to be worth their while to refill even if they could.

I LOVE my soda stream and make fizzy water 2-3 times a week. It doesn't last long enough to go flat and think of all those plastic bottles that aren't going into the land fills--I buy the flavorings to add too. Have had it for a couple years now. I just pay $15 for a new cartridge and it last prob a few months.
