Anybody here ever try it? What did you think? I was at Publix today speaking with the lady who was stocking it and she said it's very popular (she never tried it herself thought).

I’ve also used the marinara sauce. I originally got it because there was no added sugar. It is good.

This is the same reason I originally bought it. It's the only store bought one I'll use now, it is very good. All the different versions are very tasty. It's a little pricey depending on where you buy it so I always buy a few if I find it on sale.

@ScrapHappy I used it at Christmas as a base for my mussels red at 7 fishes. No one was the wiser that I didn't make it from scratch. I did add wine and garlic before I added the mussels. However, there is a brand offered by Costco which is equally as good and not quite expensive. I can't remember the brand, but there is an antique photo of a woman on the label. I think Rao's charges more because of the restaurant it comes from. No one can get a reservation there, so they can buy the sauce.

I wasn't impressed with Rao sauce at all, and won't buy it again. But, we all have different taste buds, so you almost have to try it yourself and see if you like it. I prefer some of our local Italian sauces sold here in St. Louis and also Prego!

I had Rao's tonight. Used the Tomato Basil when making baked ziti and it was good. I have been buying Rao's for years, even though it is a little pricey.

Another Rao's fan here. I buy it at BJ's. Or at my grocery store IF it's on sale.

Another brand just as good (IMO) is Victoria.

@ScrapHappy Yes, we really like it as it tastes fresh and without sugar. Costco sometimes has it in additional to our local King Soopers.

I bought some to try the other day. Sounds like a lot of people like it, so hoping we will too.

I even remember David V mentioning it - well, not exactly saying the name Rao, but saying something like he likes/uses the marinara that starts with "R" and ends with "O" so I figure that must be this LOL.

Our Publix also carries the Rao Soups and they were even on sale, but I thought I'd try the sauce first!

I looked at the Rao website and they offer Chicken Noodle, Tomato Basil, Vegetable Minestrone, Pasta & ******ioli, Italian Wedding and Chicken & Gnocchi soups.

Oh yea. It's really good. I know it's a little bit pricey but it is well worth it. I buy it at Walmart and they sell a lot of it. I like the marinara and tomato basil. They also make a really good soup that tastes homemade.

I tried this on Davids recommendation.. and I have been buying it ever since. Costco carries it and when they have it on sale, I stock up. It is very good. .

I buy the super large jars of Rao sauce from Costco. It's one of my staples.

My opinion on jars of tomato-based sauces is somewhat jaded.

I've tried them all, from low-cost Ragu to Victoria and RAO. Also used to make my own, but eventually decided that was a waste of time, no matter how good the recipe was.

We don't eat tomato-sauced food too often, but I wonder whether some people might be swayed by the higher cost of Victoria or RAO and assume that price implies better quality or taste.

Ragu and Bertolli are fine with me and equal or better tasting.

That's just me, but maybe some folks should ignore labels and price tags and buy some lower-priced brands when on sale.

Then embellish them by heating with some frozen chopped green pepper, frozen chopped onions, mushrooms, hot pepper, or whatever seasonings work at your house.

I think a few of the bigger commercial brands have been improving their recipes, so might be worth a try.

(You can tell I'm not an Italian who's fussy about the sauce. LOL!!)
