Have You Ever Had See's Candy?

I just read that it was one of the best candies to buy. I never heard of this candy and never saw it in any stores.If you have had it where did you buy it and is it better than other candy.

Yes, someone from Utah Sent me a box as a gift. I would not say it was my favorite. It was good just not my favorite I have had others that I liked better. Someone sought the box of candy and said to me, oh wow you got sees candy. MEh.

We only have it on the east coast around Christmas. It can purchased from kiosks in the malls until 12/24. A great best candy made in California. It used to be sold at Disney World but no more. If you live near a larger city check the malls. Also they have web site but the shipping is extra. I have 2 boxes stashed away.

What candy would you say is better. I have to travel a little bit to buy see's and if it is no better than candy i can find locally it may not be worth the trip. Thanks for responding.

We have See's Candies everywhere in Arizona. There are stores in the mall, they're sold at Walgreens etc. they are good chocolates but I like their peanut brittle. I would rather have Godiva.

We enjoyed Sees when my husband was stationed in San Diego. Every holiday, they had sweet molded chocolate figures-our children loved them! I can still get a limited variety of Sees candy at the holidays and the Navy Exchange- I love the lollypops😉😊!

My favorite is Fannie May dark chocolate buttercreams. Fannie May was sold several years ago and I think they are still good but maybe not quite as good as before they were sold.

My grandmother brought See’s Candy from California every year when I was a child. It is my favorite candy of all time. The See’s shops are in California. I love it and have some shipped every year.

See's is our very favorite! If you live in an area woith no shops you can order online. They frequently have $5 shipping, especially during holidays.

There are many See's candy stores here in California. It's good quality. I've purchased it as gifts countless times and received it countless times. Everyone knows it's expensive, so when it's gifted it makes a good impression.

However, in my opinion, it's no better than the much cheaper brands like Russel Stover and Whitman's. I think a lot of people think it's better just because it costs so much and they have cutesy stores everywhere.

For a couple of years we had a See's pop-up store at our local mall. I had heard about it, so I bought a box and was underwhelmed. As others have said, it was okay, but nothing to write home about. It was pretty expensive, too. We prefer Godiva chocolates. Sometimes I buy it individually wrapped in bags at BJ's and sometimes at the Godiva shop at Pentagon City mall (where you can make up a customized box).

I agree that See's is good, but not great. I would not go out of my way to buy it or eat it again. While it is available in more places now, it started in California and on the west coast many people think it is the best ever made.

I tend to think many of this type of thing can be regional and what we grew up with as a child often leaves lasting memories of how special it is. It is sort of like Krispy Kreme donuts - if you grew up in an area where these were popular you tend to think they are the gold standard in donuts, but others may not like them nearly as much. In our area Krispy Kreme moved in about 10 years ago, opened a bunch of locations and failed miserably in this area. They are all long since closed and long gone. As for the candy, the popular brand in this area was Fannie Farmer - that was the special candy people bought and there were local Fannie Farmer chocolate shops where people went to buy their favorites and for gift giving. Fannie Farmer was sold years ago to Fanny May Candies out of Chicago. All the local stores closed and now it is only available in this area online. I think it is part of a big conglomerate that also owns 1-800Flowers, Cheryl's Cookies, and a bunch of other companies. Just like @itsmagic, my favorite is the dark chocolate butter creams - that is really the only type I buy, but the Pixies (like a turtle - choc, caramel, nuts) are good, too.

All over in California. Their Bordeaux are to die for. But European chocolate are for the most part superior.

I have heard about See's Candy for years. Being on the East coast never sought it out. My favorite candy is made by a small company in Republic, PA called Redstone Candy. They only make their candy for Christmas, Valentine's Day and Easter. Currently they are sold out for Christmas for on line ordering. They'll start up again soon for Valentine's Day.
