GOURMET FOOD SHOWS

Every time I watch the Gourmet Food Shows I always wonder what happens to the TONS OF FOOD that is displayed during the presentations..

There's always enough to feed TONS OF PEOPLE..

Anyone out there who can answer this questions for me?

Hmm...guess my question is a 'sore spot' to some posters here..

Won't apologize for my question because it IS an important one..

Who needs to dump several cans of nuts to make a point??

Who needs dozens of steaks to make a point?

The food is shared - to all who are hungry (stage help, producers, preppers, etc...) - even the guys that deliver Deer Park Water.

How do I know that?

Because my ex boyfriend used to deliver to the Q and he was always psyched on FOOD DAYS - he's be asked to take whatever he wanted with him when he made the large deliveries throughout the departments.

By the time he got home he wasn't hungry for dinner.

The vendors, crew, cast and office workers love to work the food shows.

They don't have to cook that day.

I'm not sure what happens to it all, but perhaps some of the staff eat it? Directors and cameramen and producers not to mention others.

An accurate answer would have to come from someone who works there and knows what they are talking about. We here who are reading can only guess. Besides, "tons" and "dozens" are significantly more than what we actually see with our own eyes. The probability is that the floor crew and any other staff on or about get to enjoy what was opened and should be used.

@~Shilo~ Your question is not a sore spot; it's just been asked 5,000 times, with great regularity. The crew and guests in the studio eat it. No, they cant donate it. After sitting under hot lights for hours, it's not fit to eat. Somebody is sure to claim they became ill and sue QVC.

@Free2be Dave has said several times that the crew gets to eat the food. Same thing or the cookware shows.

@~Shilo~ They do seem to go over-board...........open 49 cans of nuts to sell a $39 product. It bugs me too. LOL

Heard David say.....the production crew was lined up - to dive into - one of their delicious presentations.

I don't think much of the food is wasted - studio light or not.

Tons of people??? I suspect the backstage crew descend on the leftovers, and the "doctored" food (shaving cream instead of whipping cream) is discarded.

I often wonder what happens to those expensive steaks and fresh seafood and produce, flowers, etc. sold at grocery stores when the " sell by dates" expire.

QVC has such a small amount of food compared to super markets. We are a country of waste.

You are so right Carmie. My DH belongs to a community recycling org. and they go around collecting cardboard, etc. from restaurant & other businesses dumpsters. He was amazed at the amount of food that is thrown out And these quickie mart gas stations are bad too. He said boxes & boxes of unopened candy bars, etc. were in the trash.

Where I live they are donated to the local foodbank. We receive food from Costco, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Met Market, Safeway and Krogers.

I no longer watch the Gourmet Food Shows but I do order food.

I have Salmon, Sea Bass, Hearthland Chix and Mini Potstickers all on AD.

There are many others I have tried as well. There have been a few things I wouldn't reorder but overall, mostly very pleased. I did ask for a for a refund on Jimmy Baker Crumb Cakes. So horribly dry, we couldn't eat them and DH eats anything!

I love the french croissants. I had to get a refund on Jimmy the Baker and Davids Cookies little mini cakes, horrible.

I usually order a Juniors Layer cake at Christmas time or the lemoncello or tiramisu cake.
