I got one to my boss ask me 3 things I wanted for Christmas, and he would pick one I wanted the 3 quart, but he got me the 6 it's just me to cook fo rI can cook less or have leftovers. I'm excited and nervous I've never tried pressure cooking before.

@Westshopper I think these are a lot safer than the old pressure cookers. I have the stove top type and had no problem with it, but this one really has me intrigued.

I have an instant lot out in garage and haven't used it at all. I remember very well that my mother blew the top off hers (in the 1950s)more than once. I know it's safe but I have a phobia so I'll stick to slow cooking.

@Mary Bailey My DS got me one for Chirstmas last year. I only used it a few times so far and plan on using it for the buffet to keep meatballs warm in the slow cooker setting....I have to look up how to do this on YouTube. I really need to learn how to use the different settings!

I just used my instant Pot earlier today to make meatballs. One package of frozen meatballs (i accidentally got the large sized ones...but they worked fine)..., a bottle of bbq sauce, and a can of whole cranberry sauce. Brought up to pressure and cooked 20 minutes, let pressure release naturally.

They turned out really good. Every one was eaten at my sister's gathering after church tonight!

i used to do them for 3-4 hours in the slow cooker....but the Instant Pot ones were done in a fraction of the time, and tasted just as good.

Enjoy your Instant Pot...there are lots of recipes online!

@patbz Really? You are afraid of an instant pot because of something that happened 70 YEARS ago?

Honey, calm down, don't worry! They are safe and efficient and easy to use now days! Ask here for help. Cook some chicken breasts or thighs first. Cook a pot of beans with the leftover ham!

Cook a pot of greens! You'll love it!

To the ones who own an Instant but have no plans to use it, why keep it?

What encouraged me to try it was the fact that it does have 11 safety features. Read through the manual, follow the instruction for the water test. It may help your fears like it did mine.

Also I find a huge difference in slow cooker and pressure cooking in that not only is it about the time factor but the taste of the food and how slow cooking leaches taste out of the foodover time but pressure cooking infuses taste into the food, my food simply has more flavor within the the food. That's my opinion, your mileage may vary.

My daughter gave me the 3 quart Instant Pot Mini for Christmas. I did the water test and it worked perfect. I knew if I put it in the cupboard I would put off using it. It can hold 12 cups of rice and that was more than I thought. I may make Mac and cheese later today.

The manual walks it right through step by step. The lid can rest on either side when taking it off and that is a nice feature.

The 3 quart is perfect for just the two of us.

Even the 6 qt. that one of the posters got will be used when you have company or bring to a party.

I still have my 6 qt. Cuisinart Pressure Cooker so when all my family come over. I will keep it but I know the 3 quart will be used more.

I bet many get Instant Pots for Christmas. Have fun with it.

@MKR14 We use our 6 qt a lot for the two of us. We make enough beans to eat on a few days and freeze, or a bigger roast or halved squash that won't fit in the 3 qt.

Both are well used in this house!

@patbz. I used a stovetop PC almost 50 years and my mom for years before me. Neither of us ever had a single problem. We followed the directions. The new automatic PCs are even safer....nothing to worry about. You can cook tougher cuts of meat and make them tender, cook faster, food tastes better because it's infused with flavor under pressure, so many advantages.

You seem like the adventurous type so get it out and use it!

FYI, he also showed up as one of the contestants on a Food Network show remaking Hanukkah dishes (I sat there for the first 10 minutes thinking "where do I know this guy?"). Whether you take any cooking tips away from watching his videos I can pretty much guarantee you will be amused . . .
