We had our Christmas at my house yesterday for the kids and grandchildren. Very nice day.

My daughter bought me the 3 quart Instant Pot Duo 7-in-1 and my granddaughter bought an Instant Pot book to go with it. I was surprised as I only mentioned once or twice that I had purchased a 2 qt. Pressure Cooker from HSN but it was too small. I have a Cuisinart 6 quart Pressure Cooker and it is too big for just my husband and I.

The Instant Pot is very well made and I will try it with the water test tomorrow. She bought it from Amazon so it is silver and black. The first I said,”I bet it’s blue.” She said that is the only color they had. The silver is fine. I just know we always pick a color for to match our kitchens.

I told her it is one of those items you receive that you think you wouldn’t use but it probably be used all the time.

Does anyone have this model?

Yes, that's the one I have, and I love it...use it at least once a week. The 3 qt. works perfectly for me.

Beef roasts were buy one-get one free this week...,I got 2-1/2 pound roasts, cut them in half, and froze them. Those will fit perfectly in the 3 qt.

Enjoy your Instant Pot!

Sure enough I did that and my brother did the same.

Knowledge is power. When you are ready and have the time, I suggest you take the instruction manual and read it cover to cover like its a novel. Then, another time, unpack everything, laying it out and use the book to ID everything. Then follow the instructions and do the water test. You start to feel comfortable with it.

Then pick a recipe, whether in a book or online. I kinda used the mindset of what did I want to eat and then googled "Instant Pot Ribs" or "Instant Pot Turkey". I like comparing recipes and opinions...that's like a hobby for me. If you don't do all that reading, just buy a book for beginners to get to know the principles of natural pressure release vs. Quick release and why and hints and tips.

After a month and 4 recipes, I feel like a pro. No more fear. Enjoy!

I must admit (and am ashamed to do so) I am one of those who chickened out...I got a 6 qt. a few years ago when the whole Insta Pot thing was new. I was so overwhelmed by it (and I still had a fear of pressure cookers & that type of equipment) that I never figured it out. Not one meal was ever produced from that purchase. I eventually gave it away. Here is hoping you are braver than me and that you enjoy it as much as most of the world seems to be doing. I think you have the perfect size! Enjoy!

I got my Instant Pot Mini out and did the water test today and it worked perfect. The only thing that was broken was a small little tab that hooked the water catcher in the back. I never have used mine on my other pressure cooker so no problem.

IF YOU READ THE MANUAL and follow the steps it is easy to learn and set up. I always read the manual for the set up and it is not frustrating. I also have a pressure cooker but this is so much easier to read the digital front. I do love putting able to set the lid on either side you want.

Just play with the way to learn the dials with no food in. There is a learning curve but be patient as it will easy after a few tries. The booklet walks you through the steps.

I am used to the nonstick on the insert so I hope the stainless cleans up as well.

MKR NY,

This was the first Instant Pot model I bought though I have the 6 qt. You're going to love this Instant Pot. It's one of the oldest models (only the Lux is older) but it's still a great model to have. Most recipes online and in books are for a 6 quart model, so just halve any recipe that sounds appealing to you.

Lizzie SRQ I agree with everything you said except what you choose to cook first. I recommend something inexpensive like mashed potatoes or another veggie. Ribs are great, but in case you mess up (though unlikely), you won't have messed up something expensive like ribs.
