Need New Hand mixer

I murdered my ancient and beloved hand mixer making cookies for a wedding recently. I rarely use a mixer; only occasionally for cookies, cake mix or icing.

I do like mixers that come with a storge container and beaters that aren't prone to bending. If I was considering a stand mixer I would consider a KitchenAid, but not necessarily for a hand mixer.

@Allegheny I'm also looking for some advice. I have a stand mixer for holidays, etc. But I would like a hand mixer for quick things. So, I'll be following this with interest.

i'd recommend you select beaters that are round ilo flat and without a center post.

I have a Kitchenaid 5-speed that has been a workhorse for the last 10 years. I would buy it again if the one I own quit working.

I highly recommend the Kitchen Aid 9 speed.

Had one that I accidentally dropped off the counter and it hit the floor hard (it was more than dropped, it was actually flung hard, when I moved my arm wrong, and sent it flying by accident). Still working years later, gave it to my son, and bought another of the same. It's the only hand mixer I've ever had that I can say I love. Great power, and long lasting. And tough!

Here's another vote for the KitchenAid nine speed! I've been putting mine through the paces for years and also bought the same model in different colors for my mother, two sisters, and a sister-in-law, and they all love this mixer, too.

I know. I wish they still made them as well as they did years ago. In fact the one that just died was a vintage Sunbeam purchased from e-Bay 4 years ago. I just pushed it too hard with cookie making several days in a row.

My DH just reminded that we have miles on one of the credit cards. They had a Breville available. I had been eyeing it. Is supposedly top rated this year (but pricey). Well since I am going to get it free with points I told him to order it.

Oster has a new one out at B&B that is called 'softens butter' that is just out of the refrigerator. It's white and copper gold. It's nice

I got a Sunbeam hand mixer at my wedding shower in 1974. It lasted a long time...probably 25 years. Was replaced with a Betty Crocker hand mixer, which still works fine.

This might seem like a silly idea but why not buy another Sunbeam handmixer? It is only $23 on Overstock. Seems like it is worth a try if you loved your old one.

Ladies, most companies make a mixer motor that's decent. I'd go with the beaters. I've seen some lame ones!!!

There is a commercial handmixer at Sur La Table called a Dualit. It's marked down from $120 to $90 - 12 5-star reviews and 1 4-star review.

I've had my Kitchen Aid for at least 20 years - I don't use a stand mixer ever.

Mine even came with dough hooks.

My Hamilton hand mixer is a gem. Have had it for decades and is my standby. Have invested in other high-end/performance mixers. Still go back to my little Hamilton.

I bought a Cuisinart 9-speed hand mixer with storage case one time thinking that it had to be superior to a Kitchenaid. Ha! First one tore up within a month, and the company replaced it. The second one didn't last but a couple of years, and I didn't use it that frequently. I immediately went back to a Kitchenaid and bought mine at Kohl's with a 30% discount, other coupons, and free shipping. I have a 7-speed, but honestly, a 5-speed would be plenty. I am an accomplished cook and baker...have a Kitchenaid stand mixer...but often use my hand mixer because of having more control over the end product...especially for meringues and whipped cream. Highly recommend a Kitchenaid!

@cindyNC My that is a beautiful mixer, simple. Just up my ally. I ended up with a Breville. DH was able to get it free with his credit card miles. If I had seen the Dualit before he placed the order I probably would have purchase it.

My vote is for the Kitchen Aid hand mixer with dough hook, wisk, blender AAAWESOME...I orginally grew up with oster and sunbeam..this is one will carry me to retirement. Keep an eye out for sales. Happy Hunting
