$719 for a coffee maker !?!?

I was stunned when I turned to QVC2 this evening and saw a presentation of a $719 coffee maker! I cannot believe what people will pay. My Mr.Coffee lasted 30 years and cost about 10 dollars in the 1970s. I relunctantly moved to Keurig. Even paying $130 for a coffee maker made my skin crawl. I cannot fathom the disposable income some have. It must be nice to afford things that you dont need. I guess they are marketting it toward the millenial set who pays $5-10 for their frothy drinks at lots of bucks !

I have an older version from a few years ago, coffeemaker and espresso. It was a gift. It was a gadget, not worth the price, if you know what I mean. I do hope my children are not reading here. Something for young people who do dinner parties and need a cuppa before driving home and they can talk about it with their friends.. JMHO

I cringed at paying $499. for the special value Dyson v 11. My v 7 is on a new battery and older and doesn't run as long. I love the cordless and they pick up more dirt than the large ones. The website is selling it for $100 more now so I ordered one on easy pay.
I got a coffee maker from QVC years ago that ground fresh coffee, it wasn't expensive then. It really was good, but a mess and didn't keep it hot, donated it when I bought the Keurig. I won't buy expensive coffees out and have water with meals when eating out. $2.00 up for tea and coffee adds up!
I agree the prices are too high on many items. But I recall nickel ice cream cones and cokes, also coffee!

I remember touring ny neighbor's newly-built home and seeing a Miele Coffeemaker built into the wall. I so wanted one until I learned it cost a mere $3,000.

It does not justify the price. My grandmother lived on Folgers for many years. This device appears to be marketed to stuffy types who throw dinner parties. The rest of us are fine with a simple cup.

Espresso is not just coffee. Espresso machines are expensive. They have to boil the water and then using pressure pass the water through the coffee grounds. It results in a thicker coffee product. You are supposed to drink it from smaller cups and it is strong and is served crema on top, so there is usually a frother included.

You will usually find them in Italian Restaurants. It is very different than a Mr. Coffee or a Keurig. I find that espresso is delicious. Yes, there are espresso machines that are less expensive, but many people know what they want and are willing to pay for it.

It's just like buying a car. Any one of them will get you where you want to go, but many people will pay more for the make and model that they want.

There's is nothing wrong with Folgers, but it is not Espresso..not even close. I am not stuffy, but I am Italian and I love espresso. I don't have a machine, but I would love to have one.

@Carmie I love my Nespresso! It makes cappuccino and espresso. My husband thought he would never use it, but we both use it daily. It's a real treat!

I started out with one that made espresso only and "graduated" a few years ago!

My niece has a Nespresso too. They are really nice. I think about getting one, but my DH just likes plain old weak coffee with a ton of half and half and sugar, so I would he the only one who would appreciate it.

@Carmie LOL! We started out that way. Now he likes it as well as I do and has a cappuccino almost every day. But he doesn' like cream or milk in coffee so go figure!

Even their least expensive machines make great espresso. I had one of them and loved it! Now you can get capsules from other places than Nespresso, and Illy even makes them (expensive but a real treat!!!!).

It's getting on toward Black Friday!

And sometimes even the Nespresso site has great deals on the machines. . . Just for anyone out there thinking of one.

I actually have a De'Longhi coffee & Espresso maker. It's a much cheaper version that costs around $90.00 and I got it for $5.00 after using my Amazon bucks/coupon.

It's simple to use and makes a great cup of coffee! The expensive one looks complicated.

I have a fully automatic espresso machine that I use far more often than my regular coffee maker because it is faster, easier, more delicious result, and easier cleanup. You cannot compare an espresso machine that also makes various sizes and strengths, is totallly adjustable to the user's taste in every way imaginable. Perfection is the goal of many coffee lovers and having it at home is worth it. Many people pay twice the amount of what QVC is selling for other high end machines.
