It is a pressure cooker, but you can also saute and slow cook in it.

Have used a crockpot for years. Like the Instant Pot much better. The food has a lot more flavor coming from the IP.

i guess it depends on what your family enjoys. i love that i can make chili from dried (unsoaked) beans in about a hour. stews, roast, chicken. you name it.

last week i did rice in 5 minutes. there is a little learning curve, but, that's ok.

i also got a air fryer last week. kids can have crispy hot mojo potatoes/fries in about 20 minutes, and the best part is only needs 2 teaspoons of oil for the fries.

ok in my book.

We got rid of our slow cooker and rice cooker. We also use it for hard-boiled eggs, so easy. We very seldom use it for traditional pressure cooking LOL.

I made the best cheesecake in mine last week. It took 25 mins, no cracks and very light.

It's an electric pressure cooker. I like to use it to make soup and stews. I prefer it over my stove top pressure cooker because I don't have to babysit it. I can set the pressure cook time and then walk away.

I have used a pressure cooker for almost all of my life and would use it for cooking anything that I don't want to be crispy or brown. I know folks bake in it, but I wouldn't.

I would recommend it if you don't already have a pressure cooker.

I like my Instant Pot a lot and use it as often as I can. Even though I have a few IP cookbooks, I rarely ever refer to them. I wish I knew, though, how to gauge how long to set the cook timer. I know it cooks very quickly, but I think I set mine for a little too long.

We have a 3 qt and a 6 qt and the 3 qt is used at least 3 times a week. Love them both!

Not like a crock pot. It pressure cooks foods in minutes. We made a ham & bean soup with dried beans the other day - once it pressurizes, it cooked for around 40 minutes - with using dried beans. We've made chili, soups, pork tenderloin, hard boiled eggs, rice, potatoes, you name it, all in a fraction of the time of stove-top cooking. The meat always comes out very tender.

I personally don't love the crock pot.

It is a pressure cooker, and it can be used like a crockpot. It is awesome. Is it better than other brands, I doubt it. I got mine on sale.
