I've been considering replacing my current dinnerware, which is an old pattern of Pfalzgraff which I love, but no new pieces are being developed or released. I'd like to start fresh with another stoneware set. I had been eyeing Temptations for a while, but now I see that the one set of dinnerware they have is being discontinued. Does this mean they are no longer doing new dinnerware? I wouldn't want to be stuck in the same situation as I'm already in. I like to be able to easily replace anything that gets broken, plus I enjoy buying new accessories and pieces to match back to my base set. All I see in the video for the Temptations complete set is that it is being "retired." Does this mean ALL Temptations dinnerware, or just this particular formation?

I have read so many posts here about Temptations pieces not holding up well...I would never buy it as my everyday dishes.

You might want to consider Fiestaware.....mine is in a variety of colors. It s so sturdy, and I love the color choices. And made in the USA. Then you could buy cute Temptations serving pieces, figural items, etc. and the colors would blend well with your Fiesta.

I have 2 sets of Temptations dinnerware. The Harvest and blue set I think Jill showed.

I would not buy them again. First they are very heavy. The plates, the mugs are very heavy. The bowls are small. Also like all temptations they chip.

I bought the Lenox blue butterfly about 4 years ago when they were the first TSV. I use it probably 7 months out of the year, but I've also seen a couple of chips.

Seriously if your looking for longevity I would buy Corell. I still have the same set I received as a wedding gift over 46 years ago. I use it now for bbq's and they have some beautiful patterns.

@Suziqzee - Everyone else has given you great advice about the pros and cons of Temp-tations, but one other consideration is this: Tara really likes to continually design and sell new configurations of her dinnerware, so one ongoing complaint I've seen from collectors is the fact that they can never get additional pieces that exactly match the shape or style of what they originally purchased, especially if they are in some way special (i.e., not just traditional round or square). If you know you won't need a lot, or are willing to buy several sets upfront, or like the "mix and match" approach where the patterns are similar but the shapes are different, that should negate this issue. But it's definitely something worth considering.

I also agree that Fiestware is fabulous and I have lots of pieces of it (in fact, I just got a new shipment this morning from a recent sale), but due to its weight I typically use it for serving or entertaining rather than as daily dinnerware. I found a wonderful set of Corelle several years ago that I use every day; I love its light weight, bright white background with a pop of color around the edge, plates that have no banding or deep indentations, and general versatility—and it is super easy to clean and maintain.
I always thought I'd have fancier dinnerware than what I grew up with, but there's a reason Corelle remains so popular.

Good luck with your decision! There are hundreds of great options out there...

I have many TT baking dishes, etc., but like others would not buy a dinnerware set. I don't think you could get all the additional pieces you might want. They seem very heavy to me and I don't think they would hold up well for every day use. Also, they seem to keep changing patterns and clearing out the previous styles. I think the suggestions others made here sound good. I ordered a set of mugs years ago and had to return them because of the way the color was done, but they seemed like they would not be comfortable for everyday use. Try to get a brand that has open stock that the company keeps for years. Have fun choosing.

Like many posters, I have a Temptations collection I am quite proud of. My current tablescape for autumn is a beautiful harvest dinnerware set from several years ago. I posted a pic on another thread that was well received. My everyday set is a floral springtime ( not sure of the actual name ) byTemptations from several years ago as well. It is holding up better than a set of Napoli dinnerware by Pfaltzgraf I had previously. It goes into the dishwasher regularly and is holding up well. I have only had minor issues , as one might expect from any stoneware, and never had to return any of my extensive collection. Happy hunting.😊

Thanks, everyone. And sorry for my silly misspelling that has now been repeated in every response, "question" was spelled wrong, ugh.

I think after seeing all of your thoughtful responses, I might just stick with my Pfalzgraff Pistoulet, (which is kind of similar to fiestaware, in its bright coloring.) It has held up great for close to 20 years now. I started looking even at newer Pfalzgraff and it seems even they don't make tons of accessories to go with their dinnerware sets anymore. Perhaps it's just all part of the minimalist sort of philosophy that so many have, nowadays. It wouldn't hurt me to minimize, as well, but I sure do love my accessories!

I love my TT dinnerware especially the plates and salad plates and sometimes the bowls. Mugs are usually pretty good too but they come in different sizes and shapes so it is good to look hard before buying the mugs so it fits. They clean easily too and the patterns and colors are fun. Some of my best dishes are from TT and so far they have been holding up, no chips etc and can take the hot toaster oven with no probs.

I don’t know what some of you are doing with your kitchenware, but I’ve only ever lost 2 pieces of bakeware. Both times I did something they specifically say not to. My dinnerware has held up beautifully. I even have teenage boys in my house so nothing gets babied.

Temp-rations does make subtle changes to the pattern from time to time.

Temp-tations is coming out with new sets of dinnerware (and all accessories) in their Old World and Floral Lace patterns constantly, and retiring older sets all the time too.

Once they retire a dinnerware style, it just isn't available, except on the secondary market, so if you break pieces or want to add more, they simply won't be available, unless you can find them on someplace like ebay.

So if you want Temp-tations dinnerware, be sure to buy an extra set or two because once retired you won't easily or cheaply expand the set or replace broken pieces.
