Hey, I woke up - not sure what the kitchen has in store for me today yet.

Very cold this morning as it was yesterday but yesterday did warm up a bit - today is suppose to be warmer.

I "think" it will be a Pizza day for me. Of course I will get it at Aldi's - theirs are so good and so very inexpensive. Love them.

Have a great day everyone and the days to come in this new month will also be good for one and all.

I am allergic to citrus, and only buy a very small bottle of orange juice for my husband in case of a low blood sugar.

We also are not big sandwich eaters; I don’t have to worry about buying lunch meat and sandwich fixings. We do eat a lot of vegetables; carrots, cabbage, potatoes, onions, sweet potatoes, the ones easiest to store long term. Salads with lettuce are not a favorite here.

So really, with the way we eat, it makes it very easy for me to stock well, and have exactly what I need to cook for us daily, and stay out of the grocery store for 2,3,4 months.

We go through quite a bit of milk (husband) and I like fruit. There are a couple of dairies here that are now delivering to homes. I have trouble with keeping onions for a long time. I always have the freezers stocked well for winter. I have one large freezer and 2 full sized refrigerators with freezer sections.

RedTop, I am with you on the vegetables. I love them and I guess being born in the South and basically raised there, makes sense. But I am also a fruit eater. Am struggling - food wise - to have decent meals since for the first time in my life - well almost - there is only me now. Always have had kids, etc - and am enjoying the peace and quiet but sure makes fixing meals difficult. I have a tendency to cook enough for an army and that just does not work. Have some veggies I fixed two days ago, however, and am still eating them. Fixing them in the WOK just easy and super tasty. Have enough left for lunch today so am glad I do not have to toss any.

Still freezing the the early morning but today it will be 89 - I can handle that super well.

Hope all have a great day.

He ravenously looks forward to them every fall and brings 5 of them home every week. I roast them with various spices and herbs. Today, I tried roasting them with zucchini and onion, and just salt and pepper and olive oil at 425 for 20 min. The squash and zucchini came out fine, but the onion needed more time

PA Mom-mom, you cannot go wrong with squash - any kind of squash. I truly love them all but I think the white is my favorite. Almost impossible to find any more. Seems people just prefer itty bitty squash so the itty bitty things is all you can find in a store. The great farm near us started growing the white squash the RIGHT way. I had them until they came out of my ears. I sliced them cored the stem area top and bottom, dipped them in batter and headed to the trusty iron frying pan. They are sooooooooooooooo good.. I eat my eggplant the very same way. And the eggplant makes great sandwiches.

My gosh but it got HOT today - 95. Freezing when I went to church and when I walked out the door to come home started sweating. That can be very typical here in Southern Cal.

Hope all had a great day and ate well.

Keybra - are you kidding? That is a long spell with so little food. I have gone one day with only a nibble or so but that was all. Hope your message was indeed a "spoiler."

No big cooking plans for the day. My day should begin with the Gas Company coming to light the pilot light for the heater. Time waiting is sure better than the old days. Use to wait all day, now they have it narrowed down to a five hour wait. That is a lot better.

Now the electric company is getting stupid out here. We have already had two scheduled shut downs for maintenance - one for 5 hours and the other for 6 1/2 hours. They were not great but the time frames were more into the night. They have another maintenance scheduled in a couple weeks and this one is from 5 p.m. until midnight. Now that is STUPID - no nothing during those hours. I did buy a smaller generator that you can hook two things up to it. One of course will be my oxygen concentrator. The other probably the TV. LOL. But the big thing I am trying to figure out is how you get an electric cord from inside the house outside to the generator? Hmn My windows all have screens and the doors have no holes in them - cannot figure it out. Hopefully can find an answer in the next week or so. They should have done this maintenance, etc long before now. The big problem is they do not want any more lawsuits over fires that start out here because of falling lines. They should have done something about it years ago instead of all at once trying to get answers. I think the maintenance is not making their lines safer but how to contact certain areas in a given time to turn everything off when the winds pick up.They shut off one small area last week due to winds and we are on notice again they WILL shut down some areas again in a couple days when the winds pick up again. Welcome to California.

Probably will fix some pizza rolls for dinner - toss in a salad as a go with. Sounds good to me.

Have a great day everyone.

It's been a long time since I had some pizza rolls Freddie @Winifred I'm going to add them to my shopping list for this week.

Are the screens in your windows removable or permanent? If they are removable, maybe you can select the window you want to use for the oxygen concentrator and TV and just remove that screen. Then you could run the cord out that window and close the window as far down as you can get without squashing the cord. If you are worried about bugs getting in, maybe pick up some foam backing rod and double it and then jam it into the gap.

It looks like this and can be bought from hardware stores or Walmart.

This one is by M-D products. It comes in 1/2 in, 5/8 inch thicknesses.

Or.... and even better, is the weatherstripping foam folks use for air conditioners. M-D products and Frost King makes it. Should be available at hardware stores or online.

<IMG src="https://cdn-tp3.mozu.com/24645-37138/cms/37138/files/94731d27-fe03-4287-b179-9df9ed32afce?max=300&_mzcb=_1570483154681" border="0" alt="M-D Building Products Gray Foam Weather Stripping For Air Conditioner 42 in.

Bernie we will do the pizza rolls another day. Got to thinking about that WOK so I tossed chopped up onions, peas, corn and baby carrots in it Fixed a couple pieces of Tyson's Buffalo Style chicken strips - super good. What can I say!

Hi all. Well last night made up for my self-imposed "fast" and had Chicken Cordon Bleu,

stuffed baked potatoes , summer and zucchini squash and honeydew for desert.

I really, really want some spaghetti but today am making chili. Many years ago I got a chili recipe out of a Mary Beth Roe's cookbook and it is the absolute BEST I have ever had.

Friday night I am getting the Prime Rib from Boston Market. It is so very good and for less than $40 my husband and I can get complete meals and this weekend will finally get my bolognese sauce. Will cook on low and slow for Sunday's dinner.

That is my cooking plans and, if you noticed, not a single banana and peanut butter in the bunch !

@Pooky1 Have you and Maria ever tried the rotisserie chicken from BJ ? They sell out fast around here but , when you can get them , they are the absolute best.
