topic round lid handle in Kitchen

Hello all. I have round bakers that have the "ball" shaped handle on the lid. I can't take their off even with a pot holder. I have chipped the dish by not being able to hold on. Is there a replacement lid available? Or any ideas. Unfortunately I also gave these dishes to my mother-in-law as a starter and she doesn't't want any additional pieces because of the issue. Please share your ideas. MesH23
