Wow! They made that presentation short and sweet!

It's SO quiet! I've been looking for a juicer, so I went onto the Interwebz to see what 'they' say.

Hm-mmm...kind of a mixed bag. Some people like it, some people hate it.

What I learned is that you have to 'be easy' on it.

What do YOU think?

It looked like the juicer was struggling with the apples, and the reviews I saw made it sound like a piece of junk. You can get a L'Equip or even a Breville for a similar price point,, and both of those seem to get better reviews.

Truly, it looked 'underpowered', as if it was struggling with the apple. Again, I would get a good blender, (Vitamix if possible, Big Ninja if not) and enjoy total juicing. Traditional juicers separate the juice from the pulp. Much of the nutrition/fiber is thrown away.

Well...I have both a Blendtec and an Omega VRT 350HD. Sometimes I want blended and sometimes I just want juice (or liquid with no pulp...blended or juiced, I prefer my drinks thin so I add a lot of water/liquid). The Omega VRT is a slow masticating and is very quiet. Yes, you must prep your stuff and yes it takes more time and quantity of ingredients plus more time to clean. But...it's a nice change of pace. I'll toss in that my most favorite drink is to BLEND about a cup of frozen pineapple, a wad of cilantro and about a cup of water. I then mix it with a bottle (1.5l...or a big bottle) of water. I can drink on that all day. Plus the "green pond scum" look freaks out the co-workers. (...pipman...)

It's definitely different looking. The screen is a mix between the fast and the slow juicers. It's not struggling BTW, that's how slow juicers work. I have a vrt350 also, I love it. I've had the hole plug once and it was from the strings of celery. I chop them smaller now. I use the blender for fruit shakes and the juicer when I do green juices. I use my pulp for muffins or to make stock. I'd like to find a good cookie recipe too.

The warranty is a pretty good one for the price.

You could maybe watch some you tube videos, they have everything on there any more. I'd think this would be a good starter machine, the easy pay would make it affordable.

I had a jack Lalane juicer before(also a good machine) and while it was a lot faster, I don't mind the extra time it takes for preparation in the vrt.

Of course nothing is as good or easy as it looks on tv.

I guess it's up to opinion as to whether juicers or blenders are the better bet, and it's up to what you want to do with it or accomplish with it. I can't stand to waste good food, so a few years back I got the Vitamix blender so as to waste almost nothing and also to gain fiber. I've never understood choosing juicing over emulsifying wholefoods, but I know many people do this, and I respect their opinions. However, I just think whole-foods eating is better for most people, less wasteful, and more natural with regard to how we humans have always eaten.

Regarding the clogging chute on the Omega...no but close. And like a previous post, it may happen when using stringy foods. Some of the biggest problems are celery and heavy dark greens like kale and chard. The secret is to cut these items across the fibers, into pieces only an inch or two wide. Then you want to feed stuff in rotation...just keep in mind how the auger works, pulling stuff down, pressing it against the screen...that is why long fibers get twisted around the auger, clogging the small exit area. IF you were to want to do only greens, rumor is that a horizontal masticating machine may work better. I do agree, go to YouTube and see what's there...John from Discount Juicers dot-com has tons of comparison videos.

I love my vitamix for smoothies, but for juice. I prefer a juicer. I use my jack Leland ($90 at costco) for quick juicing, it's a fast spinning centrifugal juicer. For leafy greens I use a masticating juicer fro Samson, it was around $200 about five years ago. It has an auger and pushes it sideways. I made a juice tonight with carrots, oranges, sweet yellow and orange peppers and tumeric root. It reminds me of the juice from Orange Julius, I love it, full of beta carotene, vitamin c and loaded with antioxidants. I agree that the YouTube videos from john from discount juicers are very informative.

With a vitamix you have to add ice/water to your veggies to keep from cooking, which means you are diluting it and have to drink watered down juice. Still good but you really have to drink twice as much. With a juicer you are getting pure juice and the difference in flavor is really amazing.

As far as the pulp goes, you can use it for stock, muffins, cookies, or use your imagination. I like the stock the best, better than buying all those veggies just for stock. When my kids were little we froze it in ice cubes and fed it to the lizard. I freeze the stock and use it for almost everything, but it especially is great for rice.

I love my vitamix and use it all the time for fruit shakes as well as other things.

If you're going to check out the youtube videos search Jason Vale juicers. I'd check out the ones not made by him of course, he's biased. He does have some good juicing books tho.
