I am sorry, I just cannot stand the stupid term- “PS ing by the way”. This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. I notice a lot of the hosts use this ridiculous term. People do not know how to get their thought across without using a stupid slang term. JMO!!

Oh right! Now that I've heard before. Some of the hosts do say that. Doesn't bother me.

@Krimpette you’ve got the saying right.

“PS, and by the way...” has been around for years and years. It doesn’t bother me.

Rachel said it on Holiday Gourmet yesterday, she was talking about some food item and she said”Oh, just PSing by the way, there is another selection”. I have heard Shawn say it, too. Maybe I heard it wrong, I just thought it was strange.

@Jinlei - Just in case you're confused by the phrase itself, it's simply a roundabout way of saying "and there's more"—literally, a post script (PS) to what was being said plus a side note ("by the way"). It is redundant and unnecessary and is rightly classified as slang, but as others have noted, it has been pretty pervasive in the English language over the past couple of decades.

I never heard the term so thanks for the explanation.

It sounds like middle aged people trying too hard to be cool.

If I'm not mistaken, Laura Geller would say that all the time on her shows and the hosts just picked that up. It doesn't bother me it's just a silly phrase.

How about the expression, to"snag" this or that. for example, besure to snag yours now, before it sells out. Don't like that expression, I don't snag items, I buy them.

@shaggygirl "Sidebar" has been used in the corporate world for decades as well. It was encouraged to use it in meetings when someone would ask an irrelevant question to the agenda, or a differing idea would need further discussion. I'm still in that world, but I haven't heard anyone use that term in recent years (unless in an actual court of law).

I agree that it does seem odd in TV shopping.

I knew what it meant but still do appreciate your taking time for the thorough explanation. :-) It's Shawn that uses it on her shifts. She's the only one really that I've heard it from. But enough times, and this is from someone who doesn't watch her but rarely and only for a few min at a clip, that I've noticed it.
