Whew! Looks like the indentations are indeed normal. That’s good information to have.

Thank you everyone for the speedy replies and information. That really eases my mind as I prepare to use my pressure cooker for the first time. I feel much more confident now. 😊

Question about CE presssure cooker

I just unboxed my CE 2 qt. pressure cooker and was inspecting the gasket. There are four pretty evenly spaced, for lack of a better word, little chunks cut in the otherwise round and smooth gasket. Is it supposed to look like that or should the gasket be totally smooth on the edges all the way around?

This is my first pressure cooker and I have no idea what the gasket is supposed to look like. Hopefully, some of you pressure cooker users can ease my mind and let me know if the gasket looks normal or is defective. I will appreciate any and all help. 😊

are the divots "chunked out" the same, or do they have irregular edges?

just the fact that there are four, and they are evenly spaced leads me to believe that they belong.

ok. just looked at mine. they are there also. on the outside of the ring.

i think it's ok.

My CE pc has 6 notches in the gasket. The notches are there to help flatten the gasket while under pressure, since the thing is round in shape. If you sew then you know what the notch thing is all about.
