I used to buy non fat milk, but now buy whole milk since my 5 year old grandson spends a lot of time here and his pediatrician says kids should drink whole milk. My husband and I don't drink milk very often, just use it on cereal once in a while.

Do you use non fat, 1%, 2%, full fat, or shelf stable, like me, a non milk user, except in cooking, that will stay on the shelf for a long time, until I need it.....I use the full fat shelf stable milk, and will refrigeratate, if needed for use, or use, straight off the shelf, for other needs....It is so much more cost effective for me, as I use milk rarely, and never have to throw milk away...I find that the shelf stable milk stays fresh a lot longer, after opened, in the refrigerator, and I do not waste milk at all..... This works well for me......

I keep canned milk in my cabinet but with a 15 month old grandson coming in & out, I do buy fresh milk too, full fat. it's best to use full fat in recipes, unless otherwise stated in the recipe.

I buy the refrigerated coffee creamer but I also keep the powdered kind, just in case!

I use the shelf stable milk for cooking but prefer almond milk for drinking and use on cereal. I live alone and find myself throwing unopened quarts of dairy milk in the garbage because I didn't get around to using it. You're right, @forrestwolf , the shelf stable product can be the most economical.

I buy about two and a half gallons of 2% a week. But I live with three men and a couple of critters. I also bake and cook alot. It just goes quickly in our house.

I don't drink milk and I wasn't brought up drinking it either. But I like it in my coffee so I buy whole milk powder (Nido in a can) and that way I can just sprinkle a bit in coffee without the worry of spoilage in the fridge.

I started using the whole milk powder because I wanted to stop using powdered non-dairy creamers, like Coffee Mate which I consider very unhealthy to consume. I don't care for non-fat powdered milk...it's tasteless to me.

I buy organic non-homogenized whole milk from a local dairy.

Still sold in glass 1/2 gal bottles. Cream still floats to the top.
