It is Alan Thicke’s recipe

one 15 pound turkey

5 cups vermouth

2 small oranges, peeled and separated into segments

1 yellow onion, peeled and quartered

1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature

1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

salt , pepper

seasoningd of your family’s choice

1.place turkey in a brining bag. Pour 3 cups vermouth over the bird. Zip the bag closed, and place the turkey breastside down in a shallow roasting pan. Marinate in the refrigerator overnight.

2.the next day preheat oven to 400f

3. Drain the vermouth and stuff the turkey with oranges and onion.smear the butter all over the turkey. Pour the remaining 2 cups vermouth and the olive oil over the bird

sprinkle your favorite seasonings, salt and pepper

4. Roast for 30 minutes, then reduce the heat to350.

cover the turkey with foil and roast for 1 hour. Uncover and baste with pan juices. Then continue to roast until the turkey registers 165F in thickest part of the thigh and under wing. The total roasting time will vary according to the size of your turkey and the accuracy of your oven, so start checking after 2 1/2 hours

remove turkey from the oven, cover with foil and let rest 30 minutes before carving.

i am not cooking this Thanksgiving but will definitely try this recipe.

i cook a lot with wine, so white vermouth will be a little change

enjoy!

@fthunt, the cook book was launched several weeks ago, so I would assume some people have received their copies and he did a pre order as well. I think the recipes are from his family along with celebrities, work mates, guests that were on FOX news with him, etc. I guess his wife (and Steve) are pretty good cooks.
