That "boring whiteware"....

Whenever they sell bakeware at QVC, they boast about its reasonable price compared to the "boring whiteware" sold at retail. Well, today, during a food presentation, David addressed the many questions they were getting from FB commenters, wanting to know where to get the boring whiteware. I enjoy the few pieces of Temptations that I have, but I really ❤️ my boring whiteware.

I like " boring " white dishes too. I add color withtable linens and other accessories. Temptations are just too busy for me and kind of limit the decorating possibilities.

I love dishes and own a few sets, plus I collect platters when I travel out of the country. I love using them and they remind me of my vacation.

In addition, I collect white serving pieces. I have a collection of solid white bowls in many different sizes. The only thing that matches is the color. Some are ornate, some are plain, but they look great when I use them together.

i can use them on a buffet or on my dining room table with any of my pattern place settings.

I have one set of temptations. They are from many years ago. They are solid colbalt blue and have rattan baskets to nest them in. I rarely use them unless I am attending a potluck. They are thick and super heavy, so different than today's offerings.

I am not interested in temptations because they have a pattern. The pattern would limit my use of them. They are pretty, but I don't buy baking dishes for decorations....they would match none of my place settings and they are expensive for what they are.

i love my boring white pieces. My not so boring food looks great in/on them too.

I'll take boring whiteware over Temptations or The Pioneer Woman's patterns any day of the week.

Whitewear is classic and is easy to create lovely table decor. Salespeople use what they can to see their items. Whitewear not boring at all.

I have collected Apilco when on sale for many many years! It gets used every day, still looks great and is so sturdy. Their baking pieces are the best!

I love white dishes! I have Nantucket basket (picked some up every time I was at an outlet store) too for a little nicer look but still casual.

Boring? Not with food on it!

DS is an Executive Chef, he turned us on to "boring white" Best for "plating" displaying the food.

Just curious...what did David say when he addressed their questions? I missed that.

I prefer whiteware over a pattern.

I like my plain white dishware, it's pretty, shows off the food to it's best, and goes with any serve ware or linens I put with it.

I don't even really like white, as a color, but I do love my Corning Ware (original Pyroceram) French White.

The designs on the stuff they sell here, especially that one big brand, are just wayyyyyyy too much for me. I know others like it, and that's good, but one thing I wish they wouldn't do (with any product!) is rag on other products.

Why can't they just tell people what's great about THAT product, that they are selling? Well, I guess if there is nothing great (poor quality, etc), that's all they have to go on but it's never a selling point for me.

I have a few serving pieces of Temptations in a holliday pattern from many years back. It's white with a holly motif and works fairly well with some foods. But my favorite dishes are Mikasa English Countryside - pure white with a raised white design on the rims. I've had them for years and have never tired of them IMHO food always looks more appetizing and interesting on white dishes. Even my LeCreuset pieces are iin pure white. Ever notice the dishes they use to display things like VitaMix results - they use pure white. I don't suppose QVC cares, but when they rant about those boring white pieces THEY ARE INSULTING MY TASTE, and that doesn't sit well with me. Often turn them off when they start. I don't even like the Old World and Floral Lace patterns they have zeroed in on of late. They are much too busy and detract from your food. Pure white goes with every decor and whatever you're serving. I don't "collect" anything else.

Since I eat so many beautifully colorful fruits & vegetables,

anything other than white, the dishes would be jealous!

I replaced my heavy white stoneware with thinner Corelle

I purchased at Kroger! Haven’t been disapppointed.

Just about all my bakeware and serving pieces are all/pure white. I want my food to stand out....not the busy patterns on dishes.

Boring or not, the white ones they are talking about do not crack down the middle nor leave a huge mess in the oven. As much as I'm tempted sometimes, no more Tempt-tations for me.

Well, I just love my boring old off white Pfaltzgraff Acadia pattern dinnerware and serving pieces. It may be out of date but then so I am. I don't like anything about Temptations and own none of it. Whites and creams make lovely table settings and you have tons of color options for your table.

I would love to know David's response as well. I didn't get to see the show today.

My white serving pieces are in the garage, except for a couple of pasta bowls that I use for the dog (they fit nicely in his raised holder).

I enjoy pieces with color and patterns.
