I love the Eat Smart salad kits. I get the kale variety with dried cranberries if I'm early enough to the store before they sell out. They're sold in super size at Sam's.

I put romane in a bowl and add some of the kit for variety. Some of their seeds and cranberries. My onions, tomatoes, grated parmesian and Paul Newman's Balsamic Vinegarette! LOVE!!!

Costco has several varieties of these salads....they are a bargain compared to the small bags in the grocery store. The "goodie bag" inside that has the toppings and dressing can reslly run up the carb and calories so check the package before using. I buy the rotisserie chicken (4.99) and a bag of salad....and that's dinner and lunch the next day.

All dark leafy greens do contain a chemical to prevent being eaten by animals. And if you eat only one type , there is a toxic effect but in very minute amounts. You need to mix all your greens and not just concentrate on one type. Also spinach actually is better steamed for just a few seconds; seems like the nutrients are released and used easier. I have a mixture of many greens , frozen in zip bags and use a handful of a few for my morning smoothies. I went thru 5 months of chemo in 2012 and would make myself super green smoothies every morning and I actually didn't go thru as a horrendous ordeal as alot of my cancer sisters did. And my chemo was very strong. It was no joy ride but I truly believe those smoothies helped alot. And I love these greens in salads and then cooked too.

I would like to know for sure, because I grow many kinds of kale.

@PA Mom-mom

Raw kale ‘poisonous?’

Took 2 seconds & Googled the origins of this false story.

Apparently, there was o.n.e. viral crazy story back in 2015.

Hard to believe it’s still making the rounds.

In a nutshell....no.

Raw kale is not poisonous.

There would be a zillion plant-based people dropping like flies, if so.

@sidsmom, when you googled kale did you happen to see if it were safe for dogs? My pup loves greens, but I have never bought kale.
