I've used pressure cookers all my life but I did read the instructions, thoroughly, when I got the 2 qt one.

The chart that came with mine was pretty good. A 2 lb roast is a 2 lb roast! Not that much difference in the cooking times for pork or beef these days. Chicken is a different bird!

I don't like to cook a lot of extra food. Don't like left overs warmed in a microwave. One dinner and maybe 2 lunches is my limit. (with the exception of my favorite soup).

If anyone here has the 2 qt pressure cooker, question. If you cut a recipe in half, do you also cut down the cooking time?

First, I wouldn't have 2qt PC. I hate to cook but if I do, I want enough for several meals. I live alone but use a 6qt. I can always make less, but if you have a 2qt, you can't make more.

No, this doesn't work like a microwave where the quantity determines the time. You would cook the length specified regardless of the quantity. You must also use sufficient liquid, not necessarily half because you halfed the recipe.

I have the 2 quart for making sides when using my 6 qt for the entree or for reheating leftovers. I do not reduce the time. Rarely do I follow recipes but as mentioned by @Kachina624, be sure you have sufficient liquid.

Thanks for the responses. Kachina I didn't mean to ruffle your feathers. I have a reason for wanting the 2 qt and you have a reason not to want it. I was just asking a question about cooking time. I know it's not a microwave.
